Transfer News Transfer window 2020/21

If there is an exceptional player free you sign them (finances allowing)
Then Long and Cadden fight it out.
Jim Smith always did that. Player of the season, Paul Hinshelwood was replaced by Dave Langan, Whitmore, Higgins, Vintet who scored a lot between them, replaced by Hamilton and Aldridge.
Of course always look to improve without disruption to the squad morale....P.Hinshelwoid wasn't player of the year and was replaced after a promotion by a freebie Langan, Bobby Mac replaced Grant/Fogg as available earlier that season....Aldo and Billy signed when promotion almost certain and on the back of epic cup runs so money sloshing about .
Are we in a great financial situation at the moment? Not sure but Cadden won't come to sit on bench.

Sorry @Foley Cadden won’t be free, if CC were asking for a million when we enquired and with all the s**t that is going on we maybe lucky and get asked for 400-500k but not a free and I haven’t seen anywhere where CV dispute with Motherwell was resolved so they may need funds to pay them.

Why is anyone surprised this? KR gets a vicious case of verbal diarrhoea every single transfer window
Agreed. Im actually not reading the sports pages for the next few weeks, as i can guarantee therell be less horseshit at Royal Ascot.

Everyone knows how this plays out.

"I still want four players and I’ve never changed that.

“But there’s a number of things I might not do now that I thought I might do a week ago.”

Still looks like he wants the 4 players, but we know that anyone coming in must replace others in the squad. Cooper is one space, and I fully expect Mous to be a second. Hall has not featured and I suspect that he'll be the third to come off the books one way or another. The final space, if we bring 4 in, would presumably be between Sykes and Forde (and a slim chance of Agyei), and may depend on who comes in. All this report is saying is that the attitudes/performances in the last week has changed KR's thinking which is a positive isn't it?
I wonder whether he was thinking about bringing a keeper in but has now changed his mind given how Stevens has stepped up to the plate.

I don't think he meant free as in no fee paid. He meant free as in available to sign.

So signing Camden for a large fee and keep him on the bench to push long on is getting mooted, how about addressing the teams real issues rather than wasting money
No. People are saying we might look at signing a known and proven really, really good player who helped us to second in the league last season if they’re available and a deal could be done, and if it just so happens that the person currently playing that position keeps performing brilliantly, and Cadden therefore couldn’t get in, that’s just a positive by-product of depth and competition. Not a single person has gone, “Let’s spend loads of wonga on a player and definitely park them on the bench. The last thing we want them to do is play football!”

We’ve got one proper right back now that it’s been established Clare can’t play there without being a bit of a liability - and nor can Hanson before anybody bloody starts that again. Forde might ‘do a job’ for a game or two, but Long is one muscle injury away from causing us an issue. He might also need to play centre back from time to time on top of it all, because if Mousinho can’t do it anymore then we only have two of those. This season especially, where there will still be more postponements to come in the next 6-8 weeks and which means the final 2/3 months is going to be utterly relentless, we need a decent squad. Depth is a good thing. Competition is a good thing. It always is, but especially this season. What do people want instead? Purposefully untested players who are brought in on the cheap, with no chance of playing? A squad with basically no depth at the back? What good does that do for anybody? Don’t we want the best we can have going into the second half of the season?

Christ alive - I feel like Delia Smith storming onto the pitch with a microphone. When I’m the one banging the drum for optimism and belief, other people really need to take a look at themselves.

“Where are you?!”

I hardly think that you can compare your self to delia smith, her cookery books have been used by thousands of people to improve their cookery skills, nothing as far as I am aware about how to solve Oxford United never ending goal shortage , the team has to score more goals on a regular basis across the season rather than relying on the mythical 25 goals a season striker and I would rather that money if necessary was spent on a match fit experienced player rather than the usual bunch of suspects

Nine in three games?

Couldn't you have posted a smaller picture @Manorlounger ? I almost dropped my caviare bliny.

We have 2 usable centre-backs at the club, one of which (Atkinson) seems a bit prone to knocks, and Long is the only feasible replacement. At right-back Long could at a pinch be replaced by Forde, maybe. At left-back we have the luxury of an out-of-fashion Ruffels who probably could be replaced by Elechi.

If we're only getting 1 defender then it should be a right back, but we need a centre-back as well. Not sure about Cadden, who'll do the defending while he's romping around upfield? He's not the messiah, he's a lost wee ginger laddie on the rampage on the eve of Culloden. Pfft.

Lundstram linked with a move to Rangers - well another player thinks he would do well there.
Thinks? It is the SPL. Of course he will do well there. Kane Hemmings was the second highest scorer there in the season before we signed him.
