Really really good win. I thought after the first 20 minutes we could be on the end of the kind of scoreline we suffered the last time we played there in the league, we looked tactically out-maneveured and they had that extra 10% from an (initially) impressive, raucous crowd. To turn it round in the manner we did, and to score three goals without Matty Taylor on the pitch, was really impressive.

Also, I think we showed we have a credible, effective plan B, something we've rarely had over the last few years. We can mix it up, play it long, batter teams when our passing game isn't working. I think part of this is that we have, slowly but surely, and without me personally even realising, built one of those EFL teams which is full of proper athletes. The back line are all big, strong men, and the likes of McGuane, Agyei, Hanson and Clare mean there's rarely a situation where we're physically overpowered (Liam Kelly aside).

One of the worst refereeing performances I've seen in a while. Quite entertaining in its own way really - you never know what you're going to get! I thought, if anything, our penalty might have been a bit soft, while theirs was nailed on. I'm stunned nobody got sent off - decent discipline from us, especially with the first half bookings to players who were likely to get in the mix.

That Long goal is my goal of the season so far. I absolutely loved it. Not just the technique (WHAT a finish from that angle), but the imagination of the whole move. At that point in the half, Argyle were creaking, and we just needed that moment of inspiration, that something different to finally burst through. And it came from our right back flying forward, Alan Hutton-esque, out of nowhere, adding a new angle and dimension to the attack that floored them. Superb.

Argyle looked a League 2 team. Not as bad as Northampton, but the scoreline here doesn't tell the whole story. We aren't a particularly strong League One side at the moment (I think it's fair to say), and they basically couldn't get out of their own half against us. We dominated them. Maybe that was just us turning it on, maybe they just had a bad day (their start was, as I say, brilliant). But they looked a lot poorer than Wimbledon, who are below them in the table. Thought Camara was useful though, and Mayor.

Three wins in three now, with the team propping up the league to come against a fully fresh and rested Taylor, Gorrin and Obita. If we keep plugging away, get some luck and hang on to our loanees in January, are the playoffs an unrealistic goal?

Well must have changed, thought they changed the rules a couple of seasons ago a yellow for giving a penalty away and a straight red if it was from a clear goal scoring opportunity
Giving away a penalty just in itself has never been an automatic yellow card

Checking the bbc stats on the game it showed Moore hadnt been booked,20 minutes after the game finished it comes up with Moore being booked.
The BBC stats are never the best.

Come on guys, fine comment on the refs poor performance, but think about some comments on his about size. I'm far from a liberal, but I work with kids who physically harm themselves or worse over similar issues. Just thinking of the kids.

Kids are self harming because some football fans called a clearly very overweight and unfit referee fat on a football messageboard?

Blimey

McGuane is for the season as is Kelly but I wouldn’t be to bothered if Kelly went, Shodipo is a strange one scored some fancy goals but not much else

Fantastic win, well done lads!!

but, are we going to talk about Sykes and how little he did when he came on?? [emoji51]

Who was the ref?
The Argyle forum has it as Brett Huxtable but the Ox Mail has someone different. If it is BH, I know him from growing up in North Devon. He is an appalling referee and an odious individual.

Pinched of their forum

For the first 30 minutes we looked comfortable then Oxford started to press us and we started to look unsettled. Second half belonged to Oxford they were by far the better side. To suggest we deserved a point is bananas. The only player on our side who really looked as though he cared was Camara.

He didn’t exactly run around did he? Stroll maybe.

I think you might be taking it a bit to seriously, I doubt the ref of Plymouth v Oxford will have much affect on the youth of this country.
I can’t condone obesity in someone of his standing, a professional referee and role model in the public eye. Just my opinion.
Move on, talk about the game rather than the referee, I really couldn’t care less how unhealthily overweight he is

Great win tonight fought like tigers especially second half, some good performances all round.
Three wins on the bounce unbeaten in six.
Things are definitely looking much better 😊

Well - welcome back my beloved Oxford United! This is what I want to see more of.

Until we conceded, we were below par. For the next 80 mins or so we looked very dangerous, and deserved our win.

The key for me was that players throughout the team were taking responsibility to actually impact the game. For eg. both Ruffels and Long scored because they put themselves in dangerous areas and this is what winners do. I have been critical of these two but much credit due tonight. Lets crack on...
