National News National Lockdown coming

Sounds like a massive balls-up from start to finish.

Maybe the students should have contacted someone before committing criminal damage? Or shown some consideration/understanding that the fencing was as much for their own protection as anything else?

They are supposed to be intelligent.

TBF, sounds like they gave the local paper & BBC a bell. Smart thinking kids (y) Be nice to them, @Essexyellows the future of 'our nation' is in their hands :)

It's not my intention to defend anyone involved in the whole debacle.

Or maybe the university should have explained what was happening before they did it?
How would you react if you woke up one morning and the local council had put a seven foot high metal fence around your home? I can't imagine you'd just say 'Well it's for my own protection, so that's fine!' :ROFLMAO:

I`m hoping I am carbon gone up the chimney long before any of those spoilt little brats reach anywhere near a position of power.
Ring the local paper & BBC ,and get your face in the news whilst committing criminal damage and incitement, let alone breaching any lockdown rules.... yep smart thinking kids.

I`m so glad nobody had cameras in my youth! Small mercies!! :ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO:

me too .... I managed to get myself into more than enough 'situations' without them, if there had been cameras around in my younger days, I'd still more than likely be locked up

Ah halcyon days of a clip round the ear from the local bobby, and then a bigger beating when you got home because the news travelled faster than it would now!!
:ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO:

Does anyone think that we'll realistically be out of the lockdown at the start of December? I've seen that Rishi Sunak has extended the Furlough scheme until next March. I'm not really sure that the rate of infection will come down enough in the next 4 weeks to satisfy them, given that schools are open this time etc.

I also saw that, given we started in March, it would be an entire year of the state paying 80% of the wages of millions in the UK. Crazy to think what's happened!

Bojo blustered something about reverting to the tier system (local lockdowns) after Dec 2nd in HoC the other day? ... at least I think thats what he 'said' , it is a job to decipher anything that he waffles about I find

It wasn`t done overnight by the feckin fairies now was it?
They were put up during the day on Thursday.
News sources say....
"The fences were put up around the outside of the campus, with security checks on the way in, and between blocks.
While they did not prevent students from entering or exiting the campus, they did bar passage between the different blocks of halls."
Now, unless said students have been locked in with no access to the news, they may well be aware that students mixing has caused a spike in cases in places like....Manchester.
So, accept it for what it is or rip it down Thursday evening?

Yes, that's right. The national lockdown will supposedly stop, but areas will be put into the Tiers depending on what their figures are. Of course their figures will probably not be the same after lockdown (either for better or worse, depending on if it has worked) as they were before it so people might go straight into Tier 3 in December when they weren't in it before.
I think they will introduce a Tier 4 for the very worst affected areas which is basically the same as the current national lockdown.
