too much work on atm ... lots of commissions currently from the magazine I freelance for

but will be indulging in box sets n books etc as the commissions are done dusted n dispatched
( as well as working on writing/ collating info for my first book- subject Yate allnighters 74-82, which has been on the back burner for 18 months or so)

One book that's going to be the first on my list of to do is Harlem 69 Stuart Cosgrove - the third in his trilogy ( others being Detroit '67 & Memphis '68)

Yate allnighters - some memories there! (mostly very fuzzy memories! ?)

Binge Listen List, catch up on some classic LPs that may have slipped by...

Lost Souls (Doves)
Ladies and Gentlemen wea are floating in space (Spiritualized)
The Blue Hour (Suede)
Fever To Tell (Yeah Yeah Yeahs)

Possibly not on everyone’s binge watch list, but you can currently watch every episode of Detectorists on BBC iPlayer.

Written, directed and staring Mackenzie Crook, also with Toby Jones.

Its even better if you partake in the hobby, which Mackenzie does. ;)
I do NOT look like Toby Jones....much....

Could also add, from Netflix...... Contagion :)

Wife and I just finished binging Person of Interest.

Made by Jonathan Nolan (brother of Christopher; show runner of Westworld; writer of Memento) - it's a US network TV show, so it suffers a little from 'Monster of the Week' syndrome, particularly early on.....but once the overarching plot gets going, we found it pretty gripping stuff; and a little thought-provoking in dealing, as it does, with questions of freedom vs. safety in the face of the growth of surveillance culture and AI.

No idea if you can get it on streaming services in the UK, mind. It's on Netflix over here.

Plus, second RyanBirdio's Parks & Rec recommendation. One of the funniest and most heartwarming of US comedies.....as long as you can get through the first season which isn't great! Once Rob Lowe/Adam Scott show up, it's comedy gold. Also The Good Place - same showrunner and similar sensibilities. Just a rather more bizarre concept!

this week i’ll be mostly watching... Will Hay.
comedy gold from 30/40s

TV series:

The Shield
Narcos
Babylon Berlin
The Killing (original Danish version)

I found this acouple of years back, as nice simple late night viewing. As you say it slowly evolved into something more complex, while also featuring Amy Acker which always made it worth watching ?

I loved Parks & Rec too but didn't much care for The Good Place, watched the first season and possibly the second but was a bit meh about it. Really enjoy Brooklyn Nine Nine as well which has a lot of the same people working on it.
