Looking mighty close as it stands. Three teams on 27 at the top and only 3 points separating 4th and 11th.

Not quite last year's relegation battle in around March, but still a hell of lot going on.

I would think that Peterborough, Ipswich, Sunderland, Coventry and ourselves will be in and around the top 6 most of the season. I think Wycombe will fall away and we will see one or two out of Fleetwood, Blackpool, Rotherham or Doncaster will stay the course too.

Posh always seem to start well and then fade. Last year they were in the top 2 until mid November-ish if memory serves, and obviously finished outside the playoffs. Admittedly this year they have improved over the course, but other than Ipswich I really don't see any teams to fear in this year's league (and even they're having a stumble). Sunderland will improve: a new manager should revitalise them and, either way, this being their final year (as I understand it) of the financial security of Premier League parachute payments mean they're likely go hell for leather in January to confirm a return to the Championship.

The thing with Peterborough is that now Toney and Eisa have clicked as a partnership they're always going to have goals in them, especially adding in Maddison. In fact out of 17 games this season they've only failed to score in 3 of them. Two of those blanks were against Oxford United.

The thing with Peterborough is that now Toney and Eisa have clicked as a partnership they're always going to have goals in them, especially adding in Maddison. In fact out of 17 games this season they've only failed to score in 3 of them. Two of those blanks were against Oxford United.

Although as good as they clearly are, Peterborough are looking reliant on Eisa/Toney and Maddison for their goals as they have scored 28 of their 34 goals so far, so only 18% coming from other players. And the others individually, only on the face of it don't look like they will add at a greater rate than that % over the rest of the season. Keep those 3 fit and they will definitely be up there challenging (imo) but lose one or more for any length of time then they could stutter.

As a comparison, Henry, Fosu and Brannagan have scored 18 of our 29 league goals, so others have scored 38% of our goals. So in that list isn't included Matty Taylor on 3 who if he stays fit will catch them up I reckon. Others will score more imo such as Woodburn (assuming he recovers fully from injury), Baptiste, Mackie and the defence as a collective have a good chance to add more. So different approaches based on how the 2 teams are set up means it will be interesting to see what happens.
