Tbf, those type of challenges always seem to be given in the modern game regardless of actual contact with players throwing themselves down.

But isn’t VAR supposed to prevent that? There didn’t seem to be any contact.

so this wonderful new system brought in to help the officials did not have the facility in place to review the incident from all and much needed angles yet the tv companies did what a joke !!!!

The get out used of course was it has to be a clear and obvious error which could not be disputed since those using VAR were unable to check it correctly.

Then you have some of the pundits saying how fortunate it was not a champions league final, sorry but that really is the not the point is it?

As it is supposed to be "clear and obvious" then no. It just proves how pointless VAR is as I bet the "clear and obvious" get out clause will be used a lot when decisions aren't changed.

The other thing is that it is used so differently, league to league that it will depend which country the officials are from as to whether decisions change and what is "clear and obvious".
