Juventus 5th in Serie A, they may not make it into the Champions League, no wonder they're desperate for the ESL too.

But the ESL chairman says ALL clubs are still members and cannot leave?

Apart from Juve, Real Madrid and Barca they've all resigned. Perez and Agnelli etc can cry all they want but they've resigned.

If Perez pushes the claim for the fine for leaving, I'm sure Man City and co will fire up the lawyers and it'll take years. Also UEFA could then fine RM, Barca & Juve that amount if they win and distribute it across grassroots football etc.

Also, Serie A have threatened to throw Juve out if they don't resign from the ESL.

The clubs that resigned have agreed to pay UEFA a fine (pitiful amount combined iirc).

So Real Madrid who are in financial difficulties which need them to set up an ESL are now going to sign Mbappe.
Meanwhile 3 clubs have still not withdrawn from the ESL.
Bizzare.

Is that newspaper gossip on Mbappe?

Yes to be fair it is newspaper talk.
I guess the point is that Real Madrid can't remotely afford Mbappe.
Maybe it is total nonsense but I wouldn't be surprised.

Also kind of reassuring to see Barcelona having to cut costs after making 2 £100m+ transfers in the past few years.

Would be nice to see the market get back to being a bit more reasonable over the next couple of years

Likewise, assuming they don't get bailed out by the Authorities again, I can't see how they can afford it considering they are struggling to renew contracts with existing players. PSG aren't going to let him go cheap which on outside looks like what Real Madrid would need. I think this is Real Madrid & Perez trying to appease supporters by saying we tried but it didn't happen to save face after the ESL debacle. Of course I could be totally wrong.

It's a token gesture. The important point is the threat of a £25m fine and a 30 pt deduction each, if they try it again.
