Can you shorten a pitch though? Thought you could only narrow/widen it....
Blimey. So two pitches can have areas differing by almost a factor of 3!From FA Law 1:
3. Dimensions
The touchline must be longer than the goal-line.
- Length (touchline):
minimum 90m (100yds)
maximum 120m (130yds)- Length (goal-line):
minimum 45m (50yds)
maximum 90m (100yds)
That can’t be right for any pro or semi-pro club pitches? Far too much variation. From FA Law 1:

The quote was from the IFAB guidance. The caveat is, “Competitions may determine the length of the goal-line and touchline within the above dimensions.” This would allow league to specify their own min/max dimensionsThat can’t be right for any pro or semi-pro club pitches? Far too much variation.
