If Anderson isn’t fit to bowl he shouldn’t be playing. A Sam Curran could also bowl 4 overs, as well as contributing vital runs with the bat.

Dislodging one of those two after lunch may have England back on top again. They’re looking well set though.

Even with the early wickets, I thought some of the bowling was average at best. It was very up and down and Stokes/Ali have really opened the taps in the 2nd hour. But a good overall start but it feels like another wicket was there for the taking.

As an aside, it feels sad listening to Gower and Botham 1981 waffle on Sky's coverage - I can hear why Sky are moving on from Gower at the end of the series. I turned on TMS in the end and listened to Boycott who was a bit more with it.

It's not a personal jab, but it's noticeable how different the commentary is when others like Warne, Atherton, etc are on it.
