I just cannot understand why Des took off Tyler and Ruben. For me, it was a matter of time before we'd score the 2nd. Henry and Bodin are good to come on when the games won. We were so much worse and Greg was lost with the new formation.

Henry, a moment of magic against a tiring and agricultural defence?

Bodin, one of the most naturally gifted players in pur squad?

But yeah, neither are the future, and neither should be here next year.

Yep the January window is costing us. Harris running on empty and no impact players like a Burey or Edward’s to give a lift. How different would we be with a full squad to call on

I’d also say the summer window overlooked the striking positions too. We signed one in January but he has in the main been unusable.

Bearing in mind Bolton have an Icelandic international as their fourth choice striker, I rather feel we went into this season underprepared with forward options. It has shown tonight and on Tuesday.

Still could be a great week, let's hope. But if not which players would we like to see gone. We are close and we know we have struggled for alot of the season. Cummings not sure ,Long and Stevens to go. Mcginty and Smyth will go. Mcguane to go ,Thornley to ,Bodin and Henry to go and Browne to go. How many players snd what positions do we need.?

Christ, there's some absolute nonsense on here tonight!

Hugely disappointing couple of games where we were on the wrong end of some shocking decisions, had no luck AND too many had off games. It's not over, and tonight could well become a very valuable point, but we've made it very hard for ourselves.

But to see some of the almost gloating at our failure, and some rushing in to coat off the likes of Murphy and Long is, at best, predictable and tiresome, and at worse, embarrassing trolling. And of course we have a sudden return of the Des Outers.

No one is immune from criticism, but some of the anger and personal abuse is beneath the levels this forum tends to maintain, and does no one any favours.

Hopefully 5pm tomorrow will see a few positive results for us and give time for a few to take a breath before posting again.

Maybe that's for a new thread.

So disappointed. I don't think we played particularly badly, but once the ref allowed them to get their noses in front it was always going to be difficult to play against a team set up to defend. And they're not bad at defending. I just think that our players were a bit mentally and physically tired after three games in such a short space of time. I really feel for Harris--he works so hard--he's got to be exhausted.

Completely agree..

Harris must be running on fumes, a fit striker coming off the bench for last 30 tonight could have made the difference. Or Harris coming on the last 30 etc you get the gist..

That was a huge blunder by the club in the January and I think it has cost us.

January was an horrific mess, of course.

But the one bit that wasn't was Owen Dale, yet he was inexplicably overlooked until the 65th minute of our most important game of the season - in favour of someone who has barely offered anything in years.

Not to mention removing Rodrigues and especially Goodrham when chasing the game. Utterly bizarre.

Yes, poor recruitment to blame for tonight (preaching to the choir) - but even worse team selection and use of substitutes on this occasion.

Make no mistake. That's another largely self-inflicted poor home result to file alongside the likes of Barnsley, Orient, Northampton, Reading and Lincoln.

Frustrating game against an even more frustrating opponent.

My Player Ratings

Cumming 7 - Did OK, not much he could do about the goal and was always alive to balls over the top, no complaints

Stevens 6 - Helped Browne out quite a lot going forward, looked worse as the game went on though, and that pass in the 2nd half was woeful

Long 6 - Relatively tidy but I think he does struggle in the air, we miss Moore on this front.

Brown 7 - Played well with the little he had to do, won a lot of his headers, Stevenage weren't the biggest test he's had all season.

Leigh 3 - Absolutely appalling performance, every single ball was back to Brown, had one great run but this the only thing worthy of praise, was also at fault for the goal in my opinion (wasn't even goal side of his man) and should be dropped for Bennett

Rodrigues 5 - Huffed and puffed but struggled to have much of an impact on the game, few moments that he will wish he'd done better with

Brannagan 6 - The guy battles so hard but today just wasn't his day, really wish he'd be taken off set-pieces, rarely are they good enough and for corners he's more dangerous on the edge of the box.

Goodrham 4 - Poor game, barely saw him the first half, ran around a lot though, not surprised he was subbed.

Browne 5 - Stuggled to beat more than one man without losing the ball.

Harris 6 - Feel sorry for him, must be absolutely shagged with the 3 games and sheer amount of running he does, was also feeding off scraps tonight.

Murphy 7 - Had their right back in his back pocket for most of the game but final delivery wasn't quite there, a week without a game will hopefully do him good.

SUBs - Don't think any of them added much worth writing about to be honest.

Finally someone with ball knowledge on here every rating perfect

Not really. One January window is simply not enough. Too many players here already on contracts who were never going to leave. We can't just get players in without getting them out. He got in what he could.
He brought 5/6 players in and none of them bar maybe the lb have done anything to help at all

My main concerns with Des are the conversion of Leigh from the brilliant marauding back early season to the nervous defensive back he was tonight and the reluctance to use Smyth, that screamer against charlton would have been very useful this evening. Subs were very disappointing tonight. However we very unlucky to not get the three points. At least we have 8 days to recover from a tough week. Also in an ideal world pompey would still need some points to go up as champions against lincoln and will have a big following and Im sure Mous will try and do us a favour. Living in hope!

He should have caught the initial ball in from the corner, was entirely unchallenged - and if he decided he had to punch, he should have gotten much more distance on it than he did - didn't even get it out of the area. No fault after that, but if he deals with it properly when he has the opportunity, there's no damage done.

He just hasn't convinced me these past three months. He's good with the ball at his feet, but makes too many errors and too many bad decisions. Hope we can find someone better over the summer.
