I know it takes time but weโ€™ve seen no games really when weโ€™ve gone after the opposition. Look at these hideous games weโ€™ve seen of keep ball amongst the back four, often when we are leading and the game is there for the taking. Whatโ€™s all that about ?

Itโ€™s taken 20 games for his philosophy to shine through - to me thatโ€™s a communication problem and the players not understanding or able to execute his game plan. I have very very little faith in him but will gladly be proved wrong.
Des has said he has held off by trying to implement his style completely on the team which was probably the wrong thing do but it seems like he has finally decided to just go with it.
He should have done it earlier on but I can also understand why he took that approach.

Has Iโ€™ve said before, he wasnโ€™t in my top 3 of managers to come in but he is here now and after today we can finally see what he wants to do so I will get behind him. The club arenโ€™t going to get rid this season so we may as well get behind the team the best we can.

Remarkable chutzpah from someone who was saying this, just 13 months ago...
What a pointless post, I generally agree with you far more than Scotchegg but what is there to gain by dragging up a post from over a year ago, apart from a chance to say "I told you so"? I also acknowledge that egg is hardly a stranger to that either but I just don't get it.

He was clearly wrong when he said Mous wasn't ready, as I think most people thought at the time, but does that mean opinions can't change? I don't understand this fixation with being right all the time, I can see it all over the place on here now where results and performances will be twisted to fit a pre conceived agenda from both sides of an argument. Maybe if there was less smugness about and trying to prove people wrong then people might be more willing to admit "yeah I got that wrong" rather than digging their heels in. Again, I do get this is unlikely with some posters. Do you think he's wrong when he says that Pompey are likely to be Champions? Or does he have to stick with his incorrect statement from last January when he said he didn't think their manager was ready?

Plenty of our lads did well. Lots to build on. Can't see why Burey is absent, he looked briefly very mustard

Breaking news, people change their opinions and also some opinions can be wrong when you look back at them.

Do you want to start searching for everyone who said Appleton should have been sacked in his first season because they were all wrong too?

Mous has done unbelievably at Pompey but I donโ€™t think any one of us expected him to do as well as he has.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but wasn't Burey subbed at half time in a game, and hasn't featured since?

If so, I'd imagine he's upset Des either with his reaction to being subbed, or something since ๐Ÿคทโ€โ™‚๏ธ

Can't see any other reason he's not at least making the squad

It has to be something like this.

Fair play, one of the most sensible posts on this thread and it comes from the opposition.

Correct me if Iโ€™m wrong but it seems like you havenโ€™t been playing that well for a while but still managing to dig out results. A sign of a good team but you will need to be better next season to stay up.

Yeah if we go up itโ€™ll be due to our performances and form earlier in the season.

We arenโ€™t playing great and havenโ€™t for a while now. Last good game was probably vs Bolton way back and everything has been a bit lacklustre ever since tbh. That being said games like this weโ€™d have lost this time last year so for me all about just limping over the finish line.

Weโ€™ve all got some tough games ahead and anything can happen in the last ten games. Bolton and Derby have shown they arenโ€™t immune to dropping points and visits to their forums see they also have their own criticisms of their team / management. I donโ€™t think Bolton or Derby are going to go on a Man City esque winning streak here on out so still a chance for you guys.

On coach back, not read any posts yet but have to say we were so much better today.
So unlucky with the ones that hit the post, especially Murphy 2nd half, and a couple cleared off the line , and a good save from there keeper.

Result didn't go our way but carry on playing like that and it has to change soon surely
Totally agree .
For me,the priority today was for the team to turn in a decent performance and they delivered.
It was chalk and cheese from the dross weโ€™ve had to put up with since Blackpool.
Watching from low down in the Milton End was epic, the atmosphere was top drawer and exactly what football should be about.
We should have won, but didnโ€™t .
We now have to turn today into a win next Saturday.

A better performance and scoreline than I was expecting, but our rotten run under KemDes continues. Letโ€™s be totally honest, we are going nowhere this season so itโ€™s time to start thinking about whether Des is the man for next.

Not for me. There is no management capability there.

Mixed feelings about today.

Undeniably a good team performance which was undone by 2 mistakes, a howler from Cumming and a missed tackle from Brown. We played well but Pompey were there for the taking today.

I thought we were excellent going forward with Dale and Murphy having good games.

Henry coming on was strange. Although one Cam Bran corner created probs (Mooseโ€™s header), overall his set piece delivery isnโ€™t great and I think that must be a reason why Henry came on.

Credit to Finn Stevens, he hit the ground running on his return.

Josh Murphy is turning into a bit of a dilemma for me. A few months ago I thought it was an easy decision to wave him off goodbye at the end of the season. Not so sure now! Heโ€™s one of the best strikers of a ball Iโ€™ve seen, he absolutely pings his shots with what looks like hardly any effort - itโ€™s all pure timing. Iโ€™m sure we wonโ€™t offer him a new deal on the same terms, but if he stays fit Iโ€™m sure heโ€™ll be offered a decent contract.

The fans today showed their appreciation and the playerโ€™s returned it at the end. Murphy acknowledged the support for quite a while at the end and he got a really good response. Itโ€™s been a tough watch recently but we need that level of support and the same connection the fans seemed to have with the players today for the rest of the season.

I for one will be absolutely amazed and delighted if by chance we did scrape in to the final play off place but I'm afraid I really can't see it! (And we'd no doubt crash out at the semi final stage!)

It will take us playing something like we did today for the remaining 10 games of football, and on the evidence of the last few months we don't seem to be able to do that!

We haven't been consistent enough to string together a run of results, and that is the biggest disappointment to me as this league has not been as strong as previous seasons, and next season will see some big teams back in this division and some more tough places to visit and get results. This season, as it has turned out, was a chance for us among a number of teams, but we have blown the chance.

Still, it's the hope that kills us season in season out!! COYY's!!

Still have no idea how we lost that. Much improved performance. Played with more urgency, hopefully that will be a sign of things to come. Only negative was the substitutionsโ€ฆ..completely ruined the flow of the game when we were on top. Chasing a game like that I would have liked to have seen Goodwin play up top with Harris alongside or just behind him

So close !!!!! Really ? Iโ€™ve seen nothing since heโ€™s been here to suggest we are anywhere near close. Today was a good performance, is that what โ€˜so closeโ€™ means ?
Indeed, the bar has been set so low people are getting excited about a half decent performance.
The bad news is despite us being the better team we still lost.
Promotion winning teams win games like that.
