It is because it kind of breaks the perception of how a lot of fans see Mackie's effectiveness (or the lack thereof). If you think about the goals Taylor scores, then I guess Mackie's lack of goals doesn't badly affect the teams effectiveness as much as the critics would tell us.

My problem with the stats are that they draw conclusions based entirely on who starts a game, rather than looking at what happens when either player is on the pitch.

For example, Taylor could come onto the pitch in the 75th minute with us 3-0 down. He could score 4 goals in an inspiring fight back and that table would register it as proof that Mackie should start instead of Taylor. Or the opposite could happen. Taylor could leave the game in the 33rd minute with Oxford 1-0 up, Bristol Rovers could score 3 goals when Mackie is on the pitch, and the stats would show that we shouldn't be starting Taylor.

As I went way too deep into the numbers looking at this last week, I'll keep it at a very high level here (I would prefer to look forwards right now anyway). We score (approximately) every 70 minutes with Mackie on the pitch, and every 50 minutes without him. That is 0.5 goals difference per 90 minutes, which is a big difference.

White shirts matter
That one certainly does, love it. It is an OUFC twist on the classic 1982 World Cup Peru kit...

The eye test doesn’t always tell you the truth in football but with Mackie it does, he is ineffectual now, his legs have gone. We got through to the final in spite of him rather than because of him.

Taylor and Agyei are enough for one game.

For comparison (all measurements in yards):

Adams Park 105 x 68
Kassam Stadium 112 x 78
Wembley Stadium 115 x 74

Feel the width! Wembley should suit us better.
Fratton Park is even smaller - 105 x 66

Worth noting that Wycombes home form is way better than their away form which may or may not have a small pitch size as a contributing factor given their style of play

Being as they are the ‘home’ team, do they get the choice of pitch size as well ?

At the risk of taking some bait, if Taylor is fit, then NO, NO, NO, NO , NO.

disagree, Mackie has tonnes of experience and wears the defenders down, start him for 60 minutes then bring on the big guns

Those figures are about right. I think we might have pushed 35,000 this time, them maybe 20,000 so 55,000 total.
