Thohir

Are you comparing us to Inter Milan when it comes to serie A, champions league entry this year vs league2/1 & the Tinpot cup?
You serious!!! ?

San siro vs the Kassam ?

Now correct me if I'm wrong the quote of selling his shares for 200mill is this not the last 31%
He's already sold the rest earlier to Suning.
Apparently made 157million euro in his time

His net worth is also 1.4 billion dollars. That's 1,400 million smackers...
How much did we work out it would roughly cost to build a stadium inside Oxfordshire?

What states capital gain of 157m Euro?

I'm comparing Inter's mediocre performance under his custodianship to the impressive form before it.

And, on the finance. If what you say is right you'll be able to show the source. Carry on.

The sort of money that makes Fizza look a small time player, when both are exceedingly rich. An amount of money that means Kassam is no longer the richest man in the room.

So Thohir investments in Inter appear to go like this:

Oct 2013 - Thohir acquires 70% for €250m
https://www.forbes.com/sites/afonte...-erick-thohir-at-480m-valuation/#272939016ad1

Jun 2016 - Suning acquire 68.55% of Inter for €270m of which a minimum of 38.55% (€152m) must be Thohir shares, but maybe more
https://www.reuters.com/article/us-soccer-inter-milan-suning-idUSKCN0YR03T

Oct 2018 - Thohir sells remaining c30% for €200m
https://www.insidesport.co/erick-th...stakes-before-acquiring-oxford-united-report/

That would suggest a capital gain on his investment over 5 years of €102m (41%). Other reports put it at $157m (63%):

Whichever figure you take, he seems to have achieved a decent return so I don't think we can question his financial competence based on his investment in Inter Milan.

I’m beginning to wonder if the EFL are going to let this happen. I just hope Tiger didn’t let the (big)cat out of the bag prematurely.

Is it normal practice for the EFL to scrutinise minority investors though? I thought it was just when buy outs/takeovers were happening.

WTF 1.4 billion! Now that would be a wow signing!
Obviously regarding the new ground my fan consultant fee will go up. Having sat and stood in many stadiums, eaten many pies burgers and hotdogs. My expertise comes at a cost. I can do it for maybe 2 million.
Joking aside that’s some high roller right there!

It’s all very well, but the question at the forefront of most Oxford fans has to be “who will own the new stadium” The club or a third party? We had all this hype when Kassam spoke at a meeting in the Town Hall, he was going to take us on a journey.

As someone pointed out on a previous thread I think it was, OUFC in reality will never own their stadium. Whether it is the Kassam Stadium or a stadium else where. Who puts up the money to build it will be the ones in control. What is important is how OUFC can make money from and have complete control over running the stadium. As long as the club don't sign up to a contract that is similar to the current one we have in place then anything is better.

As for people worried about the lack of areas that we could get planning permission for, Thohir has the sort of money that will turn ends at the council. It's amazing what gets through planning permission if you have a few brown envelops.

Is it?
Wouldn't a really good stadium at a price less than what we pay now or alternatively wherecwe keep the commercial revenue be far better than we have now regardless of who owns it?
I am not sure how possible that is, but the ownership of the stadium us probably less important than the deal itself.

Is that right? Bribery in this day and age with the bribery laws in place?

That’s one hell of an statement, hope you can back it up.

Any council that owns land that has been identified as a possible site for a NEW stadium will have to ensure that they do not repeat the mistakes that OCC did. The City council passed the local structure plan last night and in that they are asking other councils in Oxfordshire to take a further 8000 homes that they need to build due to the lack of land available into their local plans.

I think you're right. Thanks.

I suspect the intent was if you have enough money, you can afford to make donations and press the flesh. and also pay for planning consultants whose record of winning is rather good with local councils. And the like

Exactly that GB. obviously I can see how that could of been misinterpreted.

It would have been unfortunate if any insinuation of under-the-table deals, side-letters or illicit favours was inferred from your post, Mr Wig.

Indeed Mr Baldi has it exactly right - look at Our Custodian's management of OCC with regard to The Priory for an instance of exemplary above-board dealings nurtured by a consultant who has worked in and with the planning department and now runs a well-regarded consultancy in Oxford.
