More confident of a win than I was a week ago, will be a critical month for us if we want to maintain a promotion push, let's start with 3 points against Carlisle!

L
First thing first a great day. Second thing second a decent turnout with a heavy northern turnout. Third thing third three welcome points with a fourth thing fourth talking to several geezers in Oxford shirts with true Scottish accents which I know isn't bizarre considering its only 12 miles away but it was still an eye opener on a away day.

Wasn't Oxford United gallus.

Och aye COYY'S
Yes, one lady called me a wee Sassenach when I stood by the seat she was saving for someone.

Just on the train back to north wales. What a great away day! Met up with some well known faces in the Griffin before the game and then sampled the fans zone, what a great set up they have there! Easy to get a pint with several bars open, things for kids to do, food stalls and the early kick off on a big screen. It shows what can be done easily. We all mentioned it would be possible to have something like that at the fence end before a game.
As for the game, well let’s just say it wasn’t a great game of football! We didn’t get out of our half for the 1st 20 minutes but Carlisle really don’t have much attacking threat!
Harris almost looked shocked when he scored like he did it by accident.
Got off to the perfect start by Harris scoring early on but even then he almost messed it up 🤦🏼‍♂️ after that it was comfortable and Carlisle offered nothing, even after they scored they didn’t put much pressure on.
MOM for me has to go to Ruben just for some of the outrageous flicks and touches he did, he was plucking it out of the air like he was playing against kids at times.
As for the home fans, I was shocked how quiet they were as I’ve always seen Carlisle to have passionate, loud support.

Finally, Cumming is an upgrade on Beadle! He was so loud you could hear him in the away end and as for the save he pulled off in the 2nd half, that was something else!

Overall, a very good day at the office.

Unless we get a couple more signings I don’t fancy us in the playoffs. Flashbacks of us just not showing up like playoffs in lockdown as I think we’ll get rolled against good teams.

Teams around us with 1 or 2 games in hand also. If we play crap and still get results for autos I’ll be happy.
I understand the pessimism after the humblings v Posh and Derby, but important to remember that of the teams up there we have beaten Barnsley and Derby away this year with a full squad, as well as Stevenage away quite convincingly. No reason to think any team above us, as it stands, would be unplayable in the playoffs.

Also think we’ve been done a solid with the fixture computer by not having to play Pompey til now. The result today, and for the last few weeks really, after that early season run, smacks of a team whose wheels are falling off. Definitely think we should be looking to win those games.

I said after the Derby game that this was a team at its lowest ebb, and we have been I think. But still to pick up four wins in six despite those inhibitions is really good going. Don’t share the pessimism I’m afraid.

Did anyone ask Des about Bodin btw? Is he injured again, or just being managed?

A great win but again, against a poor side.

So far in the league, Des has beaten:

Burton (19th)
Cambridge (16th)
Charlton (13th)
Carlisle (23rd)

Don’t get me wrong, you’ve got to beat the teams below you and if we can go on a run of wins that’s great, but I’ll really start to believe if we can beat one of those top 7 sides who seem to be pulling away…

Great win to see when got up from a night shift still need some more signings to keep us in the playoffs nice to see pompey f*****g up just one win away from 2nd COYY

Got a lot of time for Paul Simpson and spoke well there. Not full of excuses and gave credit to us. Hope they can turn their season round. Good luck to them.

I was going to say same. Really nice to see a coach :

1. Credit the opposition with clearly defined examples for example Moores pass to Tyler
2. Note controversial moments but provide empathy for the referee / Lino and also acknowledge that he thought they may have gotten the decisions right
3. Positively validate his players potential whilst noting that they hadn’t achieved those things today
4. Not talk in cliches or modern corporate jargon

Also love the look of Brunton park. A bit like Peterborough a mix of modern and old character with a cosy looking terrace behind the ground. Shame about their version of our fence end but looks like a place to make great memories

Well we can't beat currently the team in 5th- because that's us

as it was expunged from the records, ( including Beanos goals, that would've made him OUFC all time top scorer) it'll be excluding wont it?
For some reason the bookings from that game weren’t expunged??

Cumming was excellent, great feet ,looked confident, great vision moving the ball quickly ,then great cramp so funny .But that save was stunning, I do think the perfect age best years to come I hope we can do a deal .Leigh what a lovely footballer, Moore And Brown excellent again. Rodriguez some magic moves and Harris deserves the goals he's a grafter. The wee man is going for a lot of money in the summer. All in all well done Des ,not always working but some really good stuff once we got going. That is now the only thing against the top teams you can't have the lull .But we seem to be getting over the Manning walkout at last
