Dot Counting Bristol Rovers 10k - 7th Oct

Attendance tracking
It is.

Though I did notice a significant drop in younger fans today. Saturday morning kids football didn’t aid us.
Absolutely. Noticeable the number of gaps in the North Stand which I think would have been filled in a 3pm game.

There were a lot of gaps in the Family Section. The early game really didn't help if the kids have games themselves.
My boys match this morning was originally due to kick off at 10.30. Fortunately the opposition agreed to move it to 10.00. That meant we just made it in time for kick off. A lot of his mates that play for other teams had a 10.30 kick off and couldn’t make the Oxford match

All because police don't back themselves to keep tiny elements of each clubs quiet? Ridiculous.

When will this b*******s about having to play Rovers early because of some pavement dancing in grim north bristol years back end?

Myself and my son and Grandson missed the game was watching Grandson play another three families at game done the same.

Looks like we were 1,000 fans down. The kick-off time plus having a game on Tuesday likely didn't help but it's very disappointing to see. I'm sure we'll be getting 9,300+ for Blackpool and 10k for Wycombe but to not hit this milestone with 1500 away fans and the position we are in is a real surprise.

It just seems like an admittance by the police they can't control the crowd. So how do they control huge crowds around the country? We can't play Rovers at 3pm but we can play Reading at 7.45pm?

It's total, total b0llox that must end next season.

OK, I'll try to add a bit of perspective to this thread, based (as ever) on facts.

Was the home gate disappointing? Initially I thought it was SLIGHTLY disappointing. But in retrospect I have changed my mind, and think there are a few things we need to look at to add some context.

The attendance was 100% affected by the kick off time. We only had 416 walk up sales. That's 300/350 down on walk ups for the last three 3pm Saturday games, and I'd say is totally related to the kick off time. I'm personally aware of a few people who couldn't make it due to kick off time, and it would appear from posts on here and Twitter, so are quite a few other people. Add in those 350 walk ups that we'd normally get and we are at 9,789 and I would be absolutely certain that there would have been the extra 211 Oxford fans there, to take it to 10,000 if it were a 3pm kick off. I don't know the number, but it's apparent that quite a few people who would normally have attended chose the iFollow option due to the inconvenience as well. That option would not have been there if it had been a 3pm kick off.

To add further context the home attendance was 964 up on the Bristol Rovers game last season, which was a 3pm kick off, so it's still a big move in the right direction.

I think we need to be realistic here and recognise the positive increases in our attendances, which I'm pretty sure will increase further, rather than beating ourselves up because yesterday wasn't a few hundred more. We can lay the blame firmly at the door of TVP for yesterday, not at those Oxford fans who were unable to attend.

Our attendances are indisputably up, but we haven't hit the ceiling yet, they'll continue to rise. Keep the faith.

So the big question is...
Did TVP get it right? Did we have top-class demonstrations of pavement dancing?
If not TVP cost us a lot of money.

TVP never get it right Malc.
I was told yesterday that Avon & Somerset police 'advise' Bristol Rovers that their home game v Oxford should be an early kickoff . Bristol Rovers however decline following that advice, hence a 3pm KO for that one.

It costs the club ( OUFC) the same fee for 'extra' police for our home game V Bristol Rovers irrespective of KO time- yet the advised by TVP early kick off actually costs the club in lost ticket sales when it is an early kick off. Its long overdue that the club stood up to TVP 'advice' and in future tells them to stick their advice, and have a 3pm kick off - if its a Saturday game - V Bristol Rovers. - ( lets not forget the reason for them advising an early kick off V Bristol Rovers is entirely down to a couple of situations that they, TVP, created, manipulated and engineered many seasons ago now)

The one last season was a 12.30pm kick off aswell.

You're right, the website I checked still had it as a 3pm kick off. Anyway, the point still stands, we had 964 more home fans there yesterday than last year.

Yep I thought the crowd was decent considering a few people I spoke to couldn't attend due to either watching their kids playing in the morning or working until lunch time.

The club should tell TVP next time we're not moving the kick off time. Think we would of been closer to 11k than 10k if yesterday's game was a 3pm kick off.

there were 4 friends and relatives all working till 1pm or 2pm, they all would've gone to a 3pm ko game - but couldn't make a 12.30pm ko . Bollox to you TVP - and the club too, (they need to grow a pair)

I suspect West Brom v B’Ham is akin to us playing Wycombe.
Villa and Wolves are their bitter rivals, aren’t they?

The last time I was at the Mem was when we were 3-1 up in extra time in an FA Cup replay in 2021.
We lost 4-3 (somehow). I left when Rovers scored their fourth only to almost walk straight into a mass brawl yards away from the car park.
There must have been at least 20 blokes beating the absolute crap out of each other. No Police anywhere when it kicked off.
Sort off. Geographically speaking they are all closer to each other than Wycombe to us. Villa have huge rivalry with West Brom as well as Birmingham City.
