Home Match Day Thread 26/11/2022 FA Cup 2nd rnd : OUFC v Exeter City

I hope we get the lowest placed team at home.
It might be on Tv but more importantly we get through to the next round and make more money
I want that too, but because I'm potentially working all 3rd round weekend as my company have a new computer system going live on Monday 9th so we are in doing final testing

Tbf to Browne, I think it isn't just happening for him in front of goal and he desperately needs a goal. His runs are starting to have an end product in terms of creating chances and goals considering Bodin's 2nd today and the Port Vale game.
I thought Browne was good today in the first half, really lively on the wing, his best position, and repeatedly fouled

Exeter played right into our hands; another team who thought they could out football us and who came a cropper. Their 39 (?) was a woeful excuse for a defender; that was awful error for goal 1, well finished Taylor though.

Notice that when we defend these days we pack our box and give opposition space on the wings. We are also excellent in defending corners, 3 of our 4 defenders are really sound in the air. We have actually improved defensively this season, but of course Robinson can’t be given credit for this can he, it has to be down to Mous😏

Further forward, we are evolving. We have pace on both flanks although the end product is er, still erratic.

I’d still say we have big problems with athletic hammer throwing teams, we still lose a lot of midfield 50-50s, but overall we’re beginning to get there.

Note the moaners aren’t on much tonight , they must be watching the ‘little maestro ‘ on the box.

Enjoyed game today far more than any WC offering.

MOM - Brown - again. What a good signing he’s been.
Brown is always up there for MoM, I hope we’re paying him enough. If not, new contract!

2 games missed this season.

2 wins, 8 goals scored, 1 conceded. Think our bad season has been my fault. Sorry lads, I'll give next week a miss too.
Well that’s away and could be an early kick off. So it would be an early start stay away for the rest of the season and let’s hope. 😊

I loved the way he was brought back on after going off injured straight into a race and connect with the ball

Just looking at our home record versus Exeter.

We first played the Grecians in the1963-64 season but had to wait until September 1978
for our first home victory. In 23 games in Oxford, yesterday was just our SIXTH win!

09-78 Oxford 3-2 Exeter L1
03-80 Oxford 2-0 Exeter L1
09-06 Oxford 1-0 Exeter Conference
12-15 Oxford 3-0 Exeter L2
08-16 Oxford 4-2 Exeter FLT
11-22 Oxford 4-1 Exeter FAC

I like Anderson when he gets the ball you never know what he's going to do with it the only negative is if he loses it upfield he's slow to get back on occasions that's where I guess he would be a great RWB but as RB he's the best at the club at the moment
Best going forward. Absolutely not the best at defending. Yesterday suited him perfectly because Exeter offered little to no threat. He had already been directly responsible for conceding three goals against tougher opponents.
