Transfer News 2022/23 Season Incoming Transfers and a few other things

10 years ago we didn't have a board worth billions talking us up as a top 30 club, why shouldn't people be concerned if we then seem to P**s it all up the wall?
Spot on. People take our budget for granted these days yet failure to progress and acquire assets, especially with not owning our ground could plunge us into a dire situation in the long run. Just look at Scunthorpe, Chesterfield and Southend now.

This window has been a catastrophe of signing unfit or injury prone players and failing to fill in critical positions. We still needed a left back, 2 midfielders and a striker yet we wasted time and blew big money on a new keeper and then failed to build on the good squad we built last year.

I don’t know why Robinson doesn’t look closer to home with half his signings. If this new one doesn’t work out too well then the blame is gonna be significantly at his doorstep. Hopefully things will look better once players recover from their injuries but for now, this is a diabolical situation we should not have been in.

10 years ago, this was our squad. Was the window poor? Of course it was. But the reaction on here can only be from people who never saw this squad play and realise where we’ve come. No doubt the doom mongers will believe we should be the new Sheff Wed (or Shrewsbury in Kips case) but come on, such short memories on here it’s unreal. The state of the entitled ‘fan base’ we have on here is just embarrassing.
Leave it karl, the first time was enough....

But you miss the point completely then. It's because of so many poor squads we have had over the years this was the first time in many years to put that right.
All the stars aligned. Board support, supposed targets identified, a wanting fan base and that budget.
But the fans have badly, badly let down, as it couldn't have gone any worse. How many managers are looking in thinking let me have a go at that.
And do you know the worst of it? You watch robinson blame everything and everyone else for it going wrong. He's already had a go at the World cup.
I'll leave you with this. How do you think a certain 2 players must feel tonight. Smyth and Jones:

First he refuses to pick them
Then goes on national radio lambasting them, when it should stay 1 to 1.
Next, their off on loan
Finally, they are wondering tonight why the fck did I sign for this bloke, as the loan window closes.

He makes it up as he goes along. Did you hear the post match interview on Saturday. He listed what the squad needed, and had the money to act on that. In the cold light of day tonight, it doesn't materialise.

Oh get it, we have wealthy owners which should immediately mean players join a club with a 3 sided stadium who average around 7-8k a week in support depending on how well the team are doing. Why would they chose that over teams with 20k+ supporters and a recent history of being in the higher leagues. Silly me, I thought as soon as a player is available and wanted by our fans forum they should be signing for us regardless of who else is in for them, I mean this is basically football manager, right?

Bloody Thomas-Asante choosing a team recently in the prem, Camara choosing a team with the second biggest budget in the league, we should be signing these players!
Didn’t say that, there’s more players out there that would improve us than just those two players. The fact we have 22 spaces available for outfield players and we have 18 being used and both Jodi Jones and smyth are included in that both of whom he wanted to send out on loan, which takes you down to 16. So we have 6. Yes 6. Spaces to fill. That’s even worse than being inept at your job. It’s pathetic.

Don’t forget Goodrham was also supposed to be departing last month. We’re literally relying on 4 youngsters who were probably gonna be benchwarmers at best in preseason for League One football.

For all the Robinson haters, do me a favour and try not to spontaneously combust just yet, it needs to be a coordinated event, just like the tantrum style whining you’ve humoured us with so far.
5 1/2 hours left, still time.
Tell us, when can the tantrum style whining and combustion commence?

After all, the 5 1/2 hours have elapsed.

I’d take that if the same perspective was taken to sides who are much bigger than us sign players ahead of us. How dare they? We’ve got in the playoffs twice!
So you, as a fan, are basing your perception of the football club's current stature on the players that don't want to sign for us? Players choose clubs for a multitude of different reasons, and I don't really think a player judges size like they're comparing clubs on a large set of measuring scales.

We're not a conference side anymore, and if anything we've moved back closer to our default setting, being in and around the top end of the third division and the lower half of the second. It's time to stop living in the past and thinking our lowest ebb was the norm, rather than the exception. Just because we were in the fifth tier for four seasons, it doesn't mean fans aren't allowed to expect us to compete for promotion to the second.

I'm really not sure why this is such an issue? It's an opinion. I think they will do well this season, and I really rate Cotterill and have done since his Cheltenham days.

Is that odd?
*Ponders a bet* Yes Cotterrill has generally done well but I reckon we’ll finish above them.

Didn’t think it would be long til you turned up Sir, basking in the ‘bleakness’ you thrive on!

On a serious note, I take your point, but I will ask, and I know it’s tough to be realistic on here, say we sack KR, who’s coming in? Sean Dyche? Mark Warburton? Just a couple of the names banded about recently that shows the delusion that seems to be spreading on this forum from a few words about our budget.

Because he’s a Bulls******, plain and simple.

Exactly, then you add in the fact that season ticket prices went up, matchday ticket prices went up. £50 for a shirt. It’s why as fans we have every right to ask questions whether he likes it or not. He may think he has nobody to answer to but we pay his wages indirectly & slowly but surely he’s putting people off coming, what he’s serving up at the moment & the general state of this transfer window. I won’t be forking out for away games & if I didn’t already have a season ticket I’m not sure I would be happy to watch the dross he’s served up at home over the first few games either. He’s putting many people off with his excuses that he makes over and over again & enough is enough. Radio Ox & local journalists need to start getting tough with him. Which tbf Nathan Cooper started to on Tuesday.

Shambles of a transfer window!! The club has certainly let its self and the fans down. Big promises re transfers which have failed to come true. There are lots of other incidents that have been mentioned to here re parking spaces, youth team departures etc. Did we actually bid for Hardie? And if we did….did we actually think we had any chance of signing him? There are loads of talented players in League 1 and 2 we could have gone for but seemingly didn’t? Players like Scully who was at Lincoln are proven quality at this level and we sign players with injury issues or those KR seems to think will get back to the form they showed several years ago. And to top it off we still haven’t even got the replica kit shorts or socks available. My boy will be delighted to get them just in time for winter!!

Will we get relegated? No we won’t, there are far worse teams than us. Will we get promoted? No chance. A mediocre mid table season is what we will get, it’s like the club just want to get this season to quietly drift along and move onto next season.

That’s the problem, it’s an expectation! We expect to be the Sheff Wed’s and Ipswich’s of this league. We all want to be competing with these sides, and we have done, but it can’t be an expectation. We have no divine right to be a top side in this league, is it what we want? Of course. But we can’t outright expect it like so many on here seem to.

Wouldn’t surprise me to see this chap signed till the end of the season from what I’ve heard. 35 years old.
