Transfer News 2022/23 Season Incoming Transfers and a few other things

I would have thought the phone call Monday might be slightly different to the one Karl said happened last week . One of our local clubs to where I now live Port Vale the manager wrote this week we've been trying to catch up with signing because we didn't know what league we might be in have of course signed Stevens, Harrison who we after from Portsmouth and have seen on there forum today are after the Morecombe striker. They have a younger squad and better balanced than ours. We have an over 30s attack or all injured. We had all transfer window and are now really in the mire.

That’s why you need to get business done early, so players can gel, and you hit the ground running. I was knocked back “ there’s plenty of time, the window is open until end of August etc”

They are very naive, or incredibly simple. We’ve signed a bunch of crocks, and offered contracts to ageing players ie Henry. Why this has happened… KR has been slow and lethargic, and he’s been given a massive budget, and has signed players that will spend more time with Amy Cranston, than in the oppositions half. It’s an outrage, that this has been allowed to happen, the board must surely see this, and must start looking for a potential replacement. This man in charge hasn’t got a clue, and his rash transfer dealings, have caused us to very nearly write this season off. I can’t honestly see us winning four on the spin, from the performances I’ve seen so far this season. We were dealt a bloody good opening 8 fixtures, and to be promotion material, we should of been looking at a minimum of 18 points. Instead we’ve started just like our January, and summer transfer windows. Yet another season of catch up, and it will be ours and KR’s downfall. We need a new leader, and someone with fresh ideas, and someone who knows how to get out of this league.

Darren Ferguson
Tony Mowbray

Both worthy candidates, and you have young managers like Mark Bonner that I’ve mentioned previously, that I believe could do a much better job, and do a better job with our transfer windows. We need a DOF, and couple of new coaches. Wipe the slate clean, and start from scratch with a different manager, because this one isn’t up to the task. He’s squandered a lot of funds on the wrong kind of players. We normally sign young talented players, and develop them and sell them on. I’m not sure we will make much profit on players like Murphy, and Jones.

Them kind of players should be given a wide birth, but KR went in like a lunatic.

I hope the board see what we can from all those miles away.

And everybody moaned at that as well.

Not from me! I like the concept, and model. If you stick to it, and do it properly, then you can turn you club into a Brentford for example, they are the blueprint, and fair play to them for achieving what they have. Swansea we’re another club that worked there way from Lge 2 - Premier League. It can be done, but you have to stick to the model, and blend them in a balanced squad. That’s the key! Then you can unlock the Championship door.

MApp was an expert at the model, and took us forward leaps and bounds with it.

Great times, imagine what he’d achieve here now…

Yes we've gone from a Brentford type to Henry ,Bodmin, Baldock,Gorrin, the New winger ,Taylor Jones ,Murphy ,Mousing over 30s over injury prone 9 players with not alot of value worried iam

Fair play - I was careful not to say you specifically as I didn’t know your personal view! But a lot of people were critical of ‘the model’ so it goes to show it’s difficult to please everyone.

I do think we needed a bit of investment to achieve a better blend. So I’m pleased in some respects they’ve looked to build a core group of established players (fitness aside) but surprised to see we haven’t supplemented that with a few younger prodigies to continue the production line.

I suspect a lot of U’s fans are wondering the same, there are some on here who thinks everything is ok and it will come good, alas with the treatment room pretty full for sometime that doesn’t bode well.
I’m also concerned with McGuane when he went down yesterday he was hitting the floor and calling for help, that seems more than cramp to me I’m not a medic and prey it is cramp but if it isn’t then god help us this season.
I thought it was odd when he seemed to be deliberately indicating he had a serious injury, then after a few minutes he got up and walked okay! Was he genuinely worried? Or embarrassed it was cramp? Or didn't recognise cramp? Perhaps it was cramp!

Whyte not in the Cardiff squad again today while I understand why some may say stay away he is the type of player the squad needs especially with all the current injuries we are desperate for pace , if we can get “creative” and get him on a perm deal with plenty to prove he could be a great signing , I don’t think signing a striker is what is needed to increase the number of goals we are scoring

Plus Karl said the striker he was smiling all about last week was Joseph.

I don’t believe that for a single second. I’ve just listened to the clap trap, and he says “ yep I’ve wanted him for 2 years, and he never stops running”. Well strikers are t supposed to run a lot, there primary job is to be at right place at the right time to stick the ball in to the back of the net. Silly comment from KR. Joseph is t the striker he was on about. Im certain of that!
