We don’t have a kit ready as our commercial team couldn’t get a sponsor!
So our owners have had to sort one!! Nothing to do with holding out for the home games!

We’re close to the overseas centre back. Hopefully this next week. A decent U21 left back from the Premier League on loan. If we can sign one of the two midfielders we’re trying, they’ll be a good signing. One is wanted by a couple of Championship teams, possibly training with one currently, a free agent who was in league 1 last season.
The other has played for a premier league team a couple of times last season, which will be a loan.
Jones will be signed on a pay as you play deal if impresses enough in the games. A deal like Bodin was on last season.
Whyte is available again, we’re interested in a perm. And another winger on loan.
Holland took less wages at MK than we offered.
And after a young striker on loan.
Thanks for some information! All sounds believable and good

Interesting and surprising about Holland.

Not that I personally rated him particularly.
It is surprising he's taken a pay cut but i suppose he's been here twice not been great mk had a good season last, time for a new challenge.

Holland was overall pretty poor, and underwhelming. More often than not he was never really in the game, when KR stuck him in the line up. Did a couple of good things, but yeah overall a big disappointment for me.

Luongo and Sam Hutchinson were both trialists for Reading today I believe. Both out of contract midfielders who would fit the bill...

If they come off, then I think that gives us a really well balanced squad. I certainly wouldn't be against Whyte returning, especially if on a permanent deal. Ended up as one of the top assists in teh league and would have been seen as having a great season if he only scored the ones that were almost impossible to miss! I doubt he'll ever have a season like that again in front of goal and if on the top of their game, him and Browne will be almost unplayable.

There will be those who say that we're too dependant on loans but it seems like we're looking to target those who have had a good schooling in PL acadamies even if they have not played too many games. The standard of these acadamies has increased significantly in the last few years as can be seen by some managers coming from there and achieving success in the league. There's no reason to think that a left back and striker wouldn't be ready to make an immediate impact, even if as squad players initially.

Can someone confirm the cutoff date for turning 21 in order to be included/excluded in the 22man squad for the season ahead and therefore which of our younger players are affected?

Lot of ‘ifs’ in that post.

I’m hoping we get better than Whyte. We have to, otherwise you fear it will be another ‘not quite’ season.

Without names, it’s difficult to know if that’s good, bad or indifferent.

A couple of points (assuming that UTO’s post is positionally accurate):

- no competition for Long. (No, I don’t consider Forde suitable for a team with aspirations of promotion)

- LB. Maybe the PL loanee will be mustard, but that’s a big risk and one they absolute need to be sure of.

Our full backs were a significant weakness last season and that must be addressed.

All the noise of increased budgets (and the funds raised through the sale of McNally, a portion of which it’s reasonable to hope will be used to strengthen the squad), has my expectations set high. Given that UTO’s record is so good, and based on his post, I’m edging towards feeling that it’s likely to be a let down of a transfer window.

That was my first thought on reading UTO's post, a bit underwhelmed.

Findlay, Whyte and a top class CM (maybe Luongo or Hutchison from UTO’s post, ex-Weds, training with Reading) on perms, plus some PL loans, wouldn’t be a disappointing window. I don’t disagree though that we need the full-backs to rediscover old form. Wouldn’t surprise me if we ended up with Brown at LB to allow Long more freedom from RB.

I’ve never seen Findlay, but lots seem to have real faith in him.

Whyte, his assist numbers were good last season, and they would be welcomed once more, but what happened to his pace? He’d be a sensible signing, but not one to set my heart racing.

The others, unknown quantities to me, so time for some research.

Of course there are a lot of 'ifs' because they haven't happened yet.

Whyte didn't have a great season, but still finished as one of the best in the league for assists. He played on the left, through the middle and even when on the right he had players like Sykes playing as part of a midfield three and they invariably covered each others space. When playing on the right on his own he started to look more like the player that left us a couple of years ago. Whyte and Browne either side of Taylor or Baldock and Bodin in the 10 is as good as you'll see at this level.
