1 month until the season starts, pre-season underway, signings: 0

Feels like some on here would have been happier if Bodin and Baldock had gone, Moore hadn’t signed but we had 3 sparkly new signings to stick in that column.

We’ve done good business so far this window and there is still plenty to do.

On Wednesday:

United’s head coach said: “We’re still a little bit away from some of the players that we want to sign.

“We’ve got one or two players nearly done, but we know we can’t have them for a while.

“We’ve got one deal that’s very close, we’ve just got to wait and see how we get that over the line.

That equals zero signings. Or do you know that has changed?
"But we can't have them for a while" why would this be? Are they finishing a season in another country?

All this nearly done/very close makes me think the players in question are thinking over other offers.

We haven't done any business to fill the spaces that needed filling. Moore, Gorin and Bodin were already in the building. To try to say that is new business is stretching it a little too far.

I was a bit disappointed to hear in that clip of Robinson in Spain that Trailists were there. I thought the days of having a look to see if they're any good were over and we had several scouts and a recruitment team that methodically and professionally identified targets.
The good old throw mud at a wall, hoping some will stick.

They could be loans and their parent club want them for the start of pre-season or as somebody else suggested they could be playing for England u19s in the European Championships (I think this was speculation but we have been linked with one of the squad previously).

- Old club being fussy about contract end date
- A loan deal but the parent wants to keep until closer to start of the season (will be the case with a lot of Prem loans this season as it's a non tournament summer)
- Loan deal/permanent deal that is waiting for parent club to complete their own deal
- Involved in Euro U19s
- Involved in a pre-season tour

5 reasons off top of my head

We're definitely looking at promising young PL players so these may be involved in the u19 Euros or preseason tours for their home clubs. We did exactly the same thing with Ben Woodburn where a deal was agreed in May but he didn't arrive until July.

I know there will be those who dismiss untested kids etc etc but PL academies have moved on a huge amount in the last few years and there will be some who ate very much ready for the cut and thrust of league one.

And equally many who are nowhere near the standard for a physical League One season.

I don't mind looking at young PL players, certainly wouldn't mind a striker to rotate with Taylor and Baldock, one who offers more pace and strength for example.

Not sure I'd be happy with a PL youngster with 0 senior games as our new centre back though...

Remember those 2 youngsters from Man City, they weren't up to much.

We keep getting told there's plenty of money in the pot so why would we be looking at loans 🤔 😕

Because we can better players or potentially better players than we can afford. Just because we have plenty of money in the pot doesn't mean we can afford everybody outright.
