Will OUFC reach the playoff’s this season and, if you’re inclined to share it, what is your rationale to support your answer?

It’s easy to post a poll like this in anger after the week we’ve had.

I don’t think anything has changed with my view other than a small caveat - yes, we can make the playoffs at best. I previously thought we would make it fairly comfortably but now I’m not so sure …

Plenty of games to go, and plenty are very winnable. We were beaten as much by the conditions on Tuesday and faced, in my opinion, a very good Bolton side yesterday who we should have beat. The next 8 games until the end of March should allow us to get a decent run going and 5 wins, 2 draws and a defeat would give us 17 points and a total of 70 in a league where 74/75 is often enough for a playoff place. We have a tough April on paper, but absolutely no reason why we couldn't get the points needed to cement our 3rd consecutive playoff finish.

I said on another thread when we had 16 games left that we'd lose 4 draw 4 and win 8 and we've lose two of those games but I'm still sticking by my prediction that we will finish on 81 points keep the faith
COYY

I just feel that we have enough fire power to absorb the odd defeat. We will get more profit from the goals we score than the ones we concede which equals more 3 points.

I also think that we sadly won’t get automatics now.
That ship has sailed I’m afraid ~~~🚢☹️

We will make the play offs but we won’t win them. A top 6 aide that is well organised and has a good manager can easily prepare their team to expose our weaknesses. For our games It’s a question of over two legs who scores the most goals and with us being unable to manage games that need to be kept tight at times I can’t see how our gung ho approach will lead to a successful promotion. We just conceed too many goals. See last seasons play off semi finals were we conceded 6 and the final the year before where a plucky Wycombe managed us to a loss.

It will be massive failure if we don’t and put a massive amount of extra pressure on KR next season.

We will make the playoffs , plenty of ups and downs for all teams until the end of the season , it’s all about hitting form at the right time , the only thing that will stop us is injuries to key players .

I didn’t post it because I was, or am, angry.

I just thought it’d be interesting to see how people were feeling.

There are still plenty of games to go and I think we will end up in the playoff.
massive game at Charlton on Saturday.
it may go all the way to the last match against Doncaster at home.

i've given my take on this on other threads where shall we say so much doom exists. The problem is that after a defeat or 2 people shall we say "react" rather than thinking it through in regards to reaching the Play Offs. Of course as is always the case in such circumstances every team with games in hand will not only win them but the other clubs wont lose or drop points either, whereas it's assumed we will because it fits the narrative for some.

It was well known that the Autos were too far over the horizon and we were in contention for a Play Off spot and nothing since Accrington or Bolton has changed that.

Think it'll be difficult but it's possible. Our defence and keepers aren't really good enough and we lack a midfield ball winner without Gorrin.

But we are bloody good going forward and a great footballing side so I think the run in will be one hell of a ride!

I reckon so, when we click we are almost unplayable.

Get the defence stable and we can easily push on and finish the season like an express train, then drop another ricket in the playoffs. :)

Rotherham beating Sheff Wednesday 2-0 with a couple of minutes to go definitely helps.

Edit. Finished 2-0 to Rotherham so that keeps us in 7th and Sheff Wednesday in 8th only have 1 game in hand of us and are 1 point behind with not as good goal difference. Still alot of twists and turn to go.

Rotherham are what we should be looking to emulate - Wednesday were the better side for most of the game, couldn't break through and lose (sound familiar)
A quality team built on defence - something we lack badly and for which (no matter what each of us think of the rest of his stewardship - I for one think it is mostly a positive one) there is only one man to blame - KR

Need the players for that
