Away Match Day Thread +++ 30/12/2017 Bradford City v OUFC match day thread +++

So Sherlock what is your "instant fix" apart from sacking the manager, changing the owner and spending money we haven`t got?

Now brains, it is the chairman who makes those decisions not me, and I did not say anything about an instant fix, so your quote is rather funny.
It's simple, if eales had kept to his word over the last 14 months or so, ie, increased s/t prices to invest in the team, bigger budget/top 6 for Appleton, not having to sell players, with the squad we had and a few addittions who knows where we would be now.
Though if you want my opinion as to what should be done to address the clotet circus, then.
Get rid of him asap, and bring in a manager with experience of this league, they are out there, and back him in this window with worthwhile investment, that has been promised so often by eales.
Weed out the journeymen crocks clotet brought in, and go back cap in hand to Maguire, who cannot be happy at Bury. Stop the penny pinching and offer talent like Maguire a competitive salary. FFS, he claims he paid his own air fair to meet with the club, to then be offered a poor deal.
I would get the talented youngsters we have, like Napa, and give them a fair crack at the whip, around the first team Equally though, those who stand no chance such as Roberts, cut them lose and stop giving them false promise.
Finally all of the above may not be possible under eales. Therefore, eales should stop messing about people like the Tiger and Satori, and let someone who has the real finances to make the above a reality take over the club. He seems to have got his money back through the sale of players. Stop sulking and treating the fans like mushrooms, and let the club move on. Communication/marketing is the key, and without Ashton, eales has been lost.

Apparently both maguire and dunkley doubled their wages. So not really about offering a competitive salary.

What is happening at the moment is so, so frustrating. With the team we had last season we were perhaps two decent signings from doing something special. Bradford signed Wyke and hes made them playoff contenders.

Our form and play is horrific. Im starting to think midtable was optimistic. Its gutting to see us drifting so much after the last few years of real progress.

For me it’s more important to get the right manager in than chuck money at it. Look at Bury, one of the biggest spenders in the summer and they did that to go s**t or bust to go up. It looks like that is now not the brightest idea the owner ever had!

Spending money for the sake of it never garentees you success.

He's simply commenting on the rubbish he puts out in his post match interviews. He could be intermingling English with Serbo-Croat, if he isn't making himself clear to the press or players, where ever he is from, the club should have a translator.
read my post again and reply when you understand it

We had the right manager in. Who im sure would still be here if hed been assured a couple of decent signings.

Pretty much spot on with you ratings I think.

Could Eastwood have done better with the first? He palms it straight out into he danger. I'm probably being too harsh, especially considering that without him it could have been 7.

Not sure Carroll was a 7 either. Their left back had him on toast whenever he ran at him.

Henry was worse than a 5 for me as well. Offered nothing going forward and again the LB skinned him several times, one leading to the third goal.
See your points for both Carroll (suppose I'm being generous since he got his first goal) and Henry (only his assist for 2nd saved him from worse), and I'd say we could probably let Eastwood off!
As we've both said, their LB looked very dangerous coming forward.

So far off the pace in mid table medocrity and still folk keep harping on about investment in the jan window.

How many given this scenario can honestly say they would throw their own money away to no end but then that's the point it's easy to spend others money and when some are starting to doubt the manager it would be plain madness.

Because I’m in a Christmas slumber....goals conceded/scored. Any trends?

This time last season it would have been "we were unlucky and should have had a draw" the only way the Manager and players can gain back any respect is six points from the next two games nothing less!

What was the challenge like on Canice? was a red? didn't get a good look from our end

This is how it reads to me...
First 30 mins use Pep tactics.
31-45 - Players say balls to this.
HT - Pep tells them to fokkus, Opposition manager tells his team he's pleased with the lead so don;t get complacent
Second half Oxford players ignore team talk and just have a go at overturning the deficit.

Wasn't the worst tackle in the world, but if your going by the letter of the law then you'd have to say it was a red. Bit of two footed lunge, but wasn't particularly high rob dangerous.

And some couldn't spot racism (however casual) from stupidity. Both you, and the original poster, fail to remember that Pep does have 'native speaking' folk around him, like Faz for example. The idea that his language is some kind of 'communication problem' is stupid beyond belief. Think about Pelligrini, Conte, Pochettino, to name a few, who really did struggle with the language, I don't think that their teams didn't get the message though.
Don't get me wrong, I am not convinced that Pep is a good manager, but that has sod all to do with his nationality.
Not specifically talking about Pep's communication with his staff and colleagues, his press talks don't give much confidence, imo, and that's nothing to do with language. Snappy chappy aint you.

Shosho if you're really bored and have New Year slumber split those columns into Win Lose or Draw as ultimate result! :)

Done!

When we score the first goal we have:
Won - 7
Drawn - 2
Lost - 0

When we concede first:
Won - 1
Draw - 5
Lost - 9

It would appear the first goal is crucial....we probably can’t afford ropey first 30mins!

Pep did say earlier in the season. If you score first you will probably win.... V positive.

Nice work, very obvious where we lack, you'd think our analysts would have picked up on this but....

Was at the game. We were terrible first half, Eastwood kept us in it and I actually laughed when we equalized and briefly I thought we might salvage a point. Better second half but 3-2 still flattered us. Obika, van Kessel were OK. In defence we were awful.

I'm glad I wasn't in the trenches with Bazzer though. Sick of reading his negativity.

Agree Obika and GVK were good, defence thought Martin was ok, Mous was all over the place, Carrol was ok , but with his age he looks like really good player the future, he has passion

Another who thinks everything is altright but we were s**t and you can’t say that, we may have been better than n the 2nd half but we were awful and if you cant see changes are needed otherwise we could be in a relegation fight sooner than you think. Another delusional person ffs get real.
