Where does it say that he is 'ready' to sign? The OM article said 'wanting' to sign and 'liking' to get it done. If we're going to split hairs, then 'ready' to sign is not quite 'going' to sign is it? Also, does Karl do the contract negotiations too? Thanks for acknowledging though that you have an untrained eye. I wish that was bullshit, but the majority of your anti-KR posts unfortunately suggest otherwise. Otherwise, as you were.
This says different

Thanks. Confirms what I was saying. 'Wants' is different to 'going to' and 'ready to'. Suggest some on here equate themselves of the OED to understand the distinction. By way of worked example, if I recall correctly from an old thread, some on here wanted to get up front and personal with Kelly Brook, which is hopefully very different to going to and ready to.

Surely the point is this happens on virtually every signing made - usually late, if at all, and usually not fit or injured and so often underwhelming or and disappointing. Clearly the budget (whatever else is said) is not there to be spent, meaning OUFC are usually at the back of the signing queue. Why drag it out every time, just speak when something is more or less imminent. Would save a lot of confrontation on here!

It says it all when people are arguing semantics. Karl very clearly wanted someone in at least this week..it hasnt happened. Thats an issue in a team struggling at the bottom of the league and in need of reinforcements.

How do you know it hasn’t happened? Sat in on the meetings? Been at the training ground?
Yes KR talks a lot about what he wants and maybe he shouldn’t but when he did stop talking about what he wanted, people then moaned that it didn’t appear we were trying to sign anyone!

I have no doubt you are an OUFC fan but I’m so glad we can’t attend games as I’d hate for anyone, let alone myself, to end up sitting next to you for 90 minutes!

He said he was ready to sign, then it was Thursday a decision was being taken, its now Thursday and nothing.. To the untrained eye, that looks like bullshit to me.
The way I heard it was that they'd discuss it on Thursday and make the decision. We might hear either way tomorrow. TBH, KR didn't sound convincing or convinced in the interview on Saturday. It was more hopeful or even wishful. We'll see....

Oh come on. You're the master of semantic and supposition!! I'm merely quoting Karl at his word. At least you've back-pedalled to 'wanted' now. My understanding was that they were looking to make a decision on the player that's been training with us today with the length of contract being one of the issues at large. So, again, not a commitment to sign.

Just looks like one side of a conversation or negotiation to me.

The player gets a vote too (and their agents play clubs along for obvious reasons). KR doesn’t get to dictate how the recruitment and negotiation process go. He may be ready to sign a player, but if the player’s not ready or willing to sign on the terms offered there is nothing KR can do.

Also a decision may have been made today - and maybe the decision was not to sign someone. KR is not obliged to keep us updated with a running commentary of what he and the recruiting team are thinking.

So not “bullshit” just the usual vagaries of player comings and going’s in lower league football. We would all love to know more and have greater insight and influence. To achieve that one needs to be an owner, manager or enjoy FIFA.

But it also meant he wanted to do the deal that particular day
