International News Covid-19 .....

Yes it is, the Palace of Westminster has around 10,000 staff!

Ours (NHS) has remained open to staff only through out the lockdown. 7.00am till 11.00pm and even done free packed lunches for 4 months.

Back to Westminster.... there are roughly 20 different bars dotted around the Estate, you need to know a "passholder" to get in but it makes for an interesting pub crawl.;)
Blimey! ... knew that civil servants etc also worked there , but 10k staff , didn't realise it was that many:oops:

pub crawl there would definitely be an interesting experience :sneaky:

I see they've sort of done a U Turn. No alcohol to be sold after 10pm in the parliament bars. Didn't say they would be shutting the place like they are making us plebs do, though.

Why do they need a bar in parliament anyway? Wouldn't be surprised if the drinks are subsidised by the taxpayer either!
the entire catering service at the Westminster, including the bars, is subsidised by the taxpayer - somewhere north of £4million a year.
the tariff for the Smoking Room can be found > https://www.parliament.uk/globalassets/documents/smoking-room-tariff-september-2019.pdf

Apparently it's all young folks' fault, going out living their lives, enjoying themselves. Bastards. Don't they realise how lucky they are and how much they owe the older generation (ie people like me)?

Youngsters should all stay in their cells to protect the old and vulnerable, the entitled generation who've never had it so good yet sneer at those whose education is suffering, whose future is blighted by a desire to be 'independent' of the EU, who will find it difficult to find non-gig economy employment, yet who will somehow be expected to support the growing elderly population.

Can't help thinking the whole thing is a**e about face. Those who need to shield should shield, but should leave the rest to carry on living. A tough message but what's the alternative?

UK daily COVID deaths fall to 13 (28th September).
Weekend fluctuations - numbers released on Sunday and Monday have always been lower than rest of the week, due to some delays in reporting. Tuesday number is always higher to compensate, so would imagine 40-50 today

COVID related, listening to Mark Caitlin CEO of Pompey talking about no fans and the fact the EFL are asking for £250 million from the premiership to help, he said Pompey are losing 700k a month that is frightening.

Indeed, we’re a nation of snowflakes.... ooops, probably offended someone now.
I saw the BBC article and almost thought it was a joke. I know I keep on commenting about here in Malaysia, but we went through the same and not a murmur from the students....

They are probably concerned how they are going to get out to get their 1/8th's and visit the Student Bar. Heaven forbid they might have to stay in and actually study (and bonk each other silly)

People need to understand that if they want to socialise they are murderous selfish bastards, what was normal last year is now evil and old people have a right to live forever.

Humour me for a guilty pleasure................ feckin students.

Couldn't the same thing be done as in:

1940: Old people: ‘Oh well, there are bombs falling everywhere, but people should carry on’

2020: Old people: ‘Students are talking to eachother!! Meeting up! Aiiieeee!! The world is ending! I’m dyyyingg’

Don’t agree with either take but you can’t call people snowflakes while wringing your hands about them doing something you don’t approve of

I hate all students - all those silly f**kers going to study medicine that might find a cure for C19 or another disease, or learning how to stop your loved ones die or how to operate on them and idiots' stupid diseases and ailments

and what about the wasters doing technology degrees? Let's dump all technology and revert back to 1346 when it was so much better - preferably earlier, how about 775BC?

But the term snowflake refers to a generation that is less resilient and more prone to being offended.

Missing the point completely.

If it wasn’t for all of those who fought two world wars, endured horrific conditions and gave their lives, many of these students would have the freedom they enjoy now.

So stop whining about a few months of imposed isolation or getting stressed because they are missing freshers week.

It’s really not a hardship.

Sorry to those I triggered....................................

That`s a lie.

I laughed a lot.

Science, technology & medicine are proper university subjects.

Shite like Artistic Make Up & Special Effects , Animation, Dance, Textile Design and such like are glorified Polytechnic courses and job deferment schemes.

It should only be the cream that "goes to Uni".
