Joel Cooper To Sign For Oxford United

Oxford United are delighted to announce that winger Joel Cooper has agreed to sign for the U’s for an undisclosed fee when the transfer window reopens.

3 year contract. So will be just about getting used to Premier League football by the time it's due for renewal

Joel Cooper has huge potential, but is also maybe a couple of years further forward in his development than Whyte and Sykes joined. And whilst not a huge surprise, it does show that we are able to identify players early and get them over the line before the window opens. With the extended break and fairly short summer, it's more important than ever that we get these guys in as early as possible.

Granted, it was expected, but how often in football do ’expected’ deals fall through. With that said, it's great to see this one get over the line early. Hopefully we’ll benefit from getting deals done and players settled early because it's going to be a very competitive league next season; important we get a decent start.

With every Northern Irish player we get the accent gets worse. Whyte was very bareable, Sykesy you can guess 60% of what he says but with Coops think our next big summer signing better be a translator.
