International News Covid-19 .....

Not really. Every circumstance is unique.

Sometimes we make the best choice at a moment in time based on the information and best advice available. With the benefit of hindsight and new information, this could then turn out to be incorrect.

I'm not sure we can file this one under that.

Given all of your comments on here, I really can’t believe that you have just said this.

The thing that frustrates me the most. The numbers are so clearly going in the right direction. I feel that we were crying out for another 3 weeks of "stay home" and we'd likely be down to double figures, better test, better trace, and much reduced infections. 3 weeks that could have potentially given us a fighting chance of getting properly out and about.

Instead we gave the Dickheads a rope and they hung themselves.

Incredibly frustrating.

What he said ???

One word of caution with these photos, though. The foreshortening from using a big lens from a distance can make people look much closer than they are. That's not to say a few hundred people should be all on the beach running around at the same time and accessing shared facilities, but they could actually all be keeping 30+ metres apart which isn't so bad.
Here's a good example of how misleading those photos can be:

Some comment from Navegante about bumbling Boris and “another u-turn” somewhere a few pages back.

Hardly acknowledging that it was the right decision..... just another poke.

The U-Turn WAS the correct decision by bumbling Boris!

But it came after howls of hypocrisy from opposition politicians, the media, MPs from his own party, workers from the NHS... It would still stand if it had created less of an uproar.

Only somebody completely out of touch with the population and lacking in the empathy department could have seen that this idea was vaguely palatable in the first place.

I'll reserve my credit to the leader of the opposition for holding the PM to account and all others who spoke out to get this changed.

Bring back Margaret Thatcher, greatest leader we have ever had.

After the Bobby Chariot chat on here yesterday I was watching an old Alexei Sayle's Stuff, and he was discussing the origins of surnames in trades: "For example, Baker is a name for someone who makes bread, Cooper is a name for someone who makes barrels, and Thatcher is a name for someone that makes you feel physically sick".

The government giving contracts to dodgy mates

Why are Serco "dodgy mates"? Do you realise you could open yourself up to legal stuff by implying Serco are "dodgy mates" with the Govt? Do you have proof that a proper procurement process wasn't completed? Or is this just more far Left Twitter conspiracies?

I am fully aware of the alleged varying quality of their work and am not defending them, but you need to think about what you post in places like this....

Yes, indeed. We have come so far and sacrificed such a lot, but to then shoot our bolt possibly just a few weeks too early is really frustrating. That R number is so crucial to quash, those few weeks may have kicked it while it was down.

Good man.. we got there in the end. It wasn’t too difficult was it.

But yes, it was the wrong decision in the first place and I am glad he saw the light.

Firstly often they don't get the consequences- other people do

Secondly they might have listened to friends who worked in the health service who minimised the problem. Dismissing it as just a snuffle, ( except for those with compromised immuse systems )Politicians who bragged on TV about shaking hands with Covid 19 Patients.

Worldwide cases - 5.2 MILLION.
Worldwide deaths - 335 thousand.

That suggests 4.9 million people have had it and recovered and that is just the confirmed/known/tested numbers so yes, for the overwhelming majority it is perfectly survivable and they move on with their lives, for those with underlying health issues it can be bad news.

He said he shook hands with people in a hospital that had Covid patients in it......................... sorry stop me if this is getting repetitive. :)
