General Jan transfer window

Is it true?

With West Ham getting involved, hopefully nearer £4 million than £3 million.
How about £4.5 million for both?
Disastrous that we haven’t signed a striker or RB. We are now in the hands of the injury gods.

I can't believe we are going to go into the rest of a season "fighting" for promotion with two fullbacks at the club. As another poster alluded to if either long or ruffels goes down for an extended period of time, that's it game over imo. It showed with Cadden how full backs are integral to our play. Hanson is not a right back and we now only have two left footed players at the club in ruffels and aygei. What's more frustrating is we have known the situation from before january that Cadden was leaving. I do think forde may provide back up and may do a good job there in similar fashion to Cadden, although he doesn't have his engine, his delivery may be better.

I understand the business model and to let baptiste and fosu go are probably the right deals, but it shouldn't have been this late in the window.

As the weeks have gone on.. I'm getting more frustrated by the mackie situation. He is not what this time needs up top. I would rather play aygei or a false 9 in browne.

I'd say we have good cover in midfield now but the 5 right backs Robinson spoke about start of the transfer window and forward ie grigg well gone long houdini

We lose 2m a year? Perhaps we'll lose 0.5m in the next year on very good season so far.
I think most forward thinking people understand that the only way to get into the black is to move into the Championship. The answer isn’t selling the family silver to benefit us in the short-term. If we are to sell key players we must reinvest to improve the long term financial position.

I don't think we will get there in my lifetime we were so close but yet so far ?

It does make me laugh when fans start saying they are going to stop going. Good is all I say, I bet none of you will be missed as it will be the same fans that just go and spend 90 minutes moaning.
Football is a business and the owners are here to make money. The sooner fans get that into their heads the better.
Selling players keeps this club afloat. As someone put on twitter, we might be on the brink of going to the championship on the pitch, financially and off the pitch we aren’t even close to it. We aren’t ready to be a championship club yet, we are going the right way towards but I’d rather watch us get there gradually than spend a load of money to get there then see the club crumble.

sadly opportunities like this season are not the norm, you cannot just pick and choose and think oh we'll try in 2 seasons or whatever football does not work like that.

also if that is what the owners actual have as their plan then say so not come out with we are going for promotion this season

dress it up how you want, the manager asked the board to show the ambition, show we are a big club and they failed letting him and the fans down badly

I must be backward thinking then! Are we really ready? I'm sure the board want to get promoted but costs have to be controlled!

how many clubs accepted an offer with no back up in place?
Very worried I don't trust the board I don't think the plan was to ever buy anyone I thought they wanted Championship this window proves not. Just what do they want with our club. I don't think any other club would sell with no back up in place.

Anyone else think we'll still get promoted and have even more to invest for next season in the championship?

*Stands back and waits for the meltdown!!!

Sadly no - we have spunked that today though I guess we will not go bust as some slight consolation

players come players go thats a fact at every club

whats wrong at OUFC is various board members, as well as KR, have categorically stated that we dont have to sell any of our players unless the offer is exceptional .... while theres something of a veil over the fosu & baptiste fee, I think the various figures being bandied about, albeit 'unconfirmed' are way below what some would perceive as exceptional .

Therefore the various board members ,( and KR), have lied - thats the big issue here the lies

we've been told by the chairman that promotion to the championship is a genuine target this season. A lie, an out and out lie, why sell give away two of your first team assets for peanuts (in reality) and not replace them, why do you not bring in a full back and striker to boost the clubs promotion aspirations IF promotion is a genuine target?

we've a sizable unbudgeted wadge of £ from cup runs and tv appearances , where has that gone? Not on new OUFC players, the board , the MD , The Chairman have lied, lied and lied to the supporters. Also they've allowed the squad to be ripped apart, and by their lies, have managed to extinguish much of the optimism I had for this season

talk about putting one in your own net, the board have successfully alienated some of the supporters with lies, and a display of total lack of ambition. Trust takes a while to earn and mere seconds to lose.

The current board have lost any shreds of trust I had in them, and anything they state in future I shall be viewing with extreme suspicion, as they are proven liars

Browne and Holland in on loan, sorry, they're not our players we have to give them back, Browne was a greedy player when here before, from what Ive seen he's just as greedy this time around, he's not much of a team player IMO, ...Holland is here to develop on behalf of his parent club, he's not been very consistent performance-wise in his appearances so far.... Atkinson acquired and then loaned back out , Kelly has played one game (abroad) all season, so he's still not match fit! .... its been an absolutely crap transfer window IMO...... an injury blighted squad before the 2 loanees plus unfit Kelly and loaned out Atkinson even arrived.

Still, the board has proved that they are liars and not to be trusted at all. They only have themselves to blame, lying to the supporters and getting found out is quite a ridiculous thing to do, but do it they have and been well and truly found out.

Bollox to em, the supporters were here before this current shower, and will be here long after theyre gone.

Any trust I may have had in the current Chairman or board has disappeared

Even if we end up emphatically beating Blackpool tomorrow and beating Newcastle tues night ( which I hope we do) that wont change my view of the board and chairman

We never will be a championship side we wont get a ground and we will never have any ambition just get fed the same old bullshit, oh and yes I will still be there

I don,t agree with you, the angriest on here are probably some of the most passionate because they feel the hurt the most, it doesn,t make you less of a fan if you moan, bloody hell it would be a sterile stadium if everyone clapped politely, oh and by the way plenty of owners are not in it to make money but because they are passionate about football or have a love for a particular club, I'm pretty sure our lot don,t fall into that category.

I wonder how many managers are thinking tonight just one or two key players and we could just get promoted! Show some ambition!

The championship would not get us in the black. Lets not kid ourselves. Yes full stadiums maybe we don't get hardly anything from the stadium. Players will expect higher wages or any we sign to keep us in there. The championship mandates ground improvements New floodlights more policing seating requirements etc. Will Kassam chip in? lol the club would have to pay the lot improving the stadium for Kassam.. Knowing him he would put the rent up even more.. Of course I want oxford to make the championship we have to be in the right position to stay there though.. Unless our owners really want to support the club with their money. As we can see they are not too keen. If we had our own stadium it would be a different story. on a positive note if we build up abit of money then things might move forward. Don't get me wrong I want us to be there next season and maybe if we make it with our skeleton crew tiger and his cubs may come through for us. The championship is not the key to balancing the books.
