Home Match Day Thread +++ 19/04/2019 OUFC v Charlton Athletic Match Day Thread +++

Where was this form eight months ago?! Ah well, nice to be winning anything I suppose.

It’s fun to mess a few promotion pushes and parties up anywho. Let’s aim for more wins than defeats to end the season and to surpass the 60 point mark too.

Thrilled for Stevens too. Good to see him step up when needed.

Wow, what a result. just hope that we are all ok for Monday as they all look out on their feet.

wow what a game. Eastwoods red could be a blessing in disguise. gives Stevens a chance now but bet Sykes isn’t happy. he was having a great game. i hope we do everything possible to keep Nelson. what a goal. and wouldn’t mind Garbutt coming back. can’t wait for next season now. things looking up, just Tiger to improve his side now and we’ll be ok

What a great game. It was on early enough here that my 10 year old could stay up and watch. Frustrating because ifollow was very stuttering today for us, but well exciting.

as radical ox said on points..our GD is -5 (52:57), wombles GD is -22 (37:59)..isnt that a 17 goal difference ?

I think he probably did. He misjudged how far out of his box he was. Presuming he grabbed it while outside the box (if not then it wasn't even a foul - hard to be certain from ifollow) then it has to be a deliberate handball that impeded a goal-scoring chance.

I thought Henry got away with a definite penalty later in the game when he pushed their bloke over.

Does anyone seriously still doubt KR? I think the most impressive thing about our run since Christmas is that we haven't been beating mid table sides on the beach - the nature of the hugely congested bottom half this season has meant that there have been very few dead rubber games. We've been playing teams battling for their lives in L1 and teams a sniff away from the auto places, both very difficult types of games in their own right, and beating them all. I really, really hope that we can keep the core of this squad together over the summer, because our form since that dreadful opening has shown that we can genuinely push to be one of the top teams in this league.

It's been a long, trying season, but this is easily the most optimistic I have felt about the team since MApp left.

The rules say that the keeper handling outside the area is a red. The real question is, is the rule okay?

If a centre-back handles the ball on the edge of the box, it's a free-kick and at most, a yellow card.

Should be absolutely no different for a keeper leaving the box, particularly when like in Easty's case it's a misjudgement.

In the event of the ‘keeper cynically depriving a striker of a fair chance at goal, then that in itself should be considered on its merits.

Today was quite clearly a narcissistic referee thinking to himself “Oooooohhhhh, I know an obscure rule, look at meeeeeeeee”...

The punishment today clearly didn't fit the crime.

From iFollow Eastwood was definitely outside the area. He could have left it go for one more bounce though to get back in the area as the Charlton forward had effectively given up on it.

It really is looking more and more like MApps first season. Which clearly is a good omen.
