Robinson is a clown

Watching the 2nd half today on a stream, KR seemed to emotionally lose it after the Baptiste injury. Hand on head, thrashing around in circles & even appeared to got involved with verbals with Bees fans sat near the bench.

The emotional pressure is clearly showing and it's not pretty. Starting to feel for the fella on a personal level. But on a professional level he's gonna lose the dressing room at this rate.

Was watching on the stream too. He was F’ing and blinding and I think it was Norman on the end of a lot of it with the head in hands stuff. It seemed KR and SD were trying to dictate the match from the touchline and he was getting frustrated if they didn’t do it. All I could hear was pass to such and such, hold it, go back, all sorts of instructions and seemingly constant. When I first started coaching this was one of the first things I quickly learnt not to do. It can’t be great for players to have the coach constantly dictating every move.

Different coaches have different styles, some shout, others dont, i think it can work either way.

After the post match Plymouth interview and everything that went on yesterday, I’m seriously wondering where Robinson’s head is at now. The players need calm, cool, considered leadership at the moment. Let’s hope he can clear his head quickly

I remember in Michael Appleton’s first season when we were struggling people said he shows no passion and that must affect the team. I agree with you all styles work although you need the tools to do the job as they say .

So, genuine question, are you inferring that our failings this season are down to Tiger not supporting Robinson?

Both styles can work and different players respond to different styles of management. I’m certain though that players seeing the coach with his head in his hands and shouting in an aggressive way and telling them where to pass and who too won’t make them play any better, particularly when it seems to be constant. Keep that stuff for the training field and let the players play with a bit of freedom.

Just my opinion of course :)

This does actually open up an interesting debate. As was touched on earlier, people do want to see passion from the manager. There’s nothing worse, when you’re team is losing, than to look down and see the manager sat on the bench with his arms folded. Guardiola and Klopp, arguably the two most highly rated managers in the Prem, aren’t exactly statuesque on the touchline. At the end of the day though, the question is does it bring positive results and success? We can’t really say that’s the case at Oxford at the moment. I’m not saying Robinson’s body language is the sole reason, but maybe it is something he could look at to see if it’s beneficial?

I watched the bit with Norman involved on the TV as well and also thought he (KR) was very irate, however, there was a lot of stuff going on yesterday and emotions were high, we were chasing the game, it was beyond 85 mins on the clock, things were getting desperate and he (Norman) was obviously not doing what was asked of him. Whether or not it was excessive, is, as others have said, open to debate.

No I am implying that as I have said elsewhere that some of our summer recruitment didn’t work and also up front needs incoming players and quickly.

Obviously I have no inside knowledge of what goes on inside the club on a day to day basis and what role Norman has in this (stubborn? doesn't follow orders? doesn't like the manager? etc. etc.). But for an outsider looking in it does appear from everything that has gone on this season that Norman is KR's punching bag when things aren't working out as planned.

I suppose it’ll always be open to debate who’s fault the recruitment in the summer was but, agreed, players do need to be brought in quickly. Let’s hope lessons have been learned by Tiger and/or Robinson

It looked to me like yesterday’s reaction was just incidental in relation to him not doing a certain job on the pitch. (However it did bring back memories of KR shouting at Canice Carroll from the touchline preseason in Ireland, albeit not quite as animated.)

Got to say Norman was poor when he came on. Whyte was so pissed off when he crossed into touch just before the whistle, with Gav in a great position

The post match interview was embarrassing and shows me that our manager is losing the plot. What was needed was a strong and considered response rather than an 'I was/am crying' emotive outpouring. Hearts on sleeves is all very well, and there is no doubt that it is a very disappointing and sad situation, there were more dignified ways of communicating that. This, combined with the catalogue of other episodes and results simply reinforces my view that he must go.

After listening to his interview after the game I would be very concerned about KR current mental health, he's clearly a very emotional person and based on what's currently happening he sounds broken and not in the best place to turn this around. If Tiger did act I think it would actually be doing him a huge favour (and OUFC).

I will back KR and hope those who seem to crave failure are proved wrong!
That is a very odd statement. Those who are concerned that KR is leading us down the wrong path are worried because they think he is quite possibly going to CAUSE failure, which is exactly the opposite of 'craving' it.

Presumably you are backing him because you think he will bring us success?

he sounded broken like someone who isn't thinking rationally. I've said it before he needs to go we are 22nd in the league and have lost to the other 3 in the relegation places with a man who by his own admission says he has never spent so much. He needs to go for his own and our sake

Indeed it is odd, surely that is the only reason to back a manager. I really can't see much success so far his lack of professionalism on the touchline is poor we are 22nd in the league and lost to all our relegation rivals. Blaming injuries and officials and luck only goes so far.

But the fact is that we have had a number of injuries, and the referees have been awful. We have a threadbare squad and have limited options to select from. What changes will a new manager make?
