I think that the most frustrating thing about any of the windows is the fans can clearly see what areas need strengthing and whoever is the manager at the time seems to be completely blind to it , need a dcm to stop other teams playing through us , let’s sign wingers who spend more not playing than playing, need to get a striker in , no real need it appears , excluding this window with Goodwin, the question is why where the recruitment team not aware of him at £20,000 rather then let’s buy him at £400,000, do we not have a scouting network that looks at raw talent ?

Damn, can’t believe we now can’t finish in the play-offs because we haven’t signed a new midfielder, despite the fact we’re currently in them without one.

Whilst it would be a nice addition, we already have Brannagan, McGuane, McEachran and Smyth for two places, along with Henry too who is also taking a lot of the wages. Building this squad was never going to be finished in two windows; we’re still hamstrung by the mistakes of the past, and a 5th midfielder hasn’t been a priority over getting in new attacking players and replacing those we lost on loan.

Who's too say we didn't look in January 2023 but KR wasn't keen or trusted with the money or the player?

im sure most of league one are probably thinking why didnt we buy him for 20k last january. was hardly a big queue at that point

and dont forget, KR was in charge last Jan. so probably irrelevant what the recruitment team thought anyway

Yes just reading the OM slightly depressing, gone from in by this weekend to now before the window ends. And happy with the midfield, it works against average teams but not against the best teams ,let's hope for good signings. And hopefully a good end to the season ,but we have got a great chance of the play offs we aren't going up automatically Peterborough, Derby ,Bolton or Portsmouth will fill those slots ,but we have got the chance of the play offs which gives you more chance of attracting players for next season. So can't see anyone coming in today .
Nothing unusual there obviously the more attackers he wants aren’t there or aren’t interested so will this mean someone who’s is “ one for the future” again!

McEachran - not good enough.
Henry - not good enough.
Smyth - not good enough.

19 league games hoping McGuane & Brannagan can stay fit, unsuspended & get back to form.

That’s a major risk.

Moxon at Carlisle, Conteh at Grimsby (looks like he’s off to Gas) are 2 we should be looking at.

There have been some good midfielders available this window.

Port Vale have signed Weir & Gore, Charlton have signed Coventry & Bakinson. MK also signed Bate who’d be a big upgrade on McEachran/Smyth/Herny.

Signing a football is just like going round a supermarket. You take them off the shelves, pop them in your basket and get them scanned at the checkout.

Doesn't look like a bad bit of business if you look at it slightly differently, say we took him a year ago when Cheltenham did & were paying £3k per week wages for a year which would be around £200k cost to the club so far and he might not have improved as he did in the last few months. Always a risk either way. If he can keep himself fit and keeps improving he's got the potential to be a multimillion pound striker

McEachran and Smyth are solid players and I never said Henry was good enough anymore (as great a servant as he’s been), but we still have him on the books so are limited with what we can do.

McGuane and Brannagan don’t miss many games, so it’s not a ‘major’ risk, and the backups are good for this level.

Also to claim that Bate is better considering he was average here last season and only a League Two club would take him sounds like you feel the grass is greener elsewhere. Midfield is not the priority in this short window.
