OM this morning saying Des doesn't feel he needs any reinforcements in midfield....😳

Des - if you're reading this please have a rethink! If we lose Cam or MM for a time we are going to be in trouble. A midfield enforcer is what we've been crying out for for years now yet the gobby Scouser, The Snake and now DB refuse to admit one of our major failings. McEachran and Henry are not adequate replacements in there....could Smyth do a job there? Maybe he could but he's covering the right back/right central defence positions right now.....

Not going to lie, I'm a little concerned now.☹️

We've brought in three players this window - Burey, Cumming, Goodwin (I'm not counting Edwards).

As of today, that's more than Pompey, Derby, Barnsley, Blackpool, Bolton or Peterborough. Bolton haven't signed anyone! Of the other teams near the top, only Stevenage have done as much business as us.

Yes, we have some injuries, but so do many of the others. Pompey's injury list is every bit as bad as ours.

So how come the narrative is still that we're the ones who are slow off the mark compared to the competition?

Yes, some of our business will happen at the end of the window. So will everyone's - that's January!
Yes pompey have injuries like ours but the difference is they can grind out results

We sit in the playoffs and it’s way above our level…

Can you remind me what our budget is this season.
Does anyone actually know what our budget was exactly? People say “Top 6 Budget” or “3rd biggest budget this season” but how much is that? Have we spent it all? How much more than the others below are we?

We may be a Top 6 budget, but that doesn’t equal instant success. We had a HUGE rebuild at the start of the season, to basically replace a relegation battling squad. Ed Waldron said it would take 3 windows to get it done. We’re 1 and a bit through, and they’ve done a superb job.

Coming into the season there was 100% 6 other clubs you could expect to finish higher than us this year, the current 5 above us and I’d say Blackpool also.

With our so called huge budget it would be easy to build a team that challenges the top 6, by signing the likes of JCH and other players of that age and profile, but where does that put us in 2/3 years time when they’re aging on huge money, needing to be offloaded.

I think, everyone at the club has done a fantastic job on rebuilding a side that just survived last year, into one we can believe in and could get top 6 even more if the correct names come in still.

People moan, what’s the point? We lose a game MELTDOWN. Just back the club for doing and good job, we can’t have it all our way

Oi Tim, do us a favour and get the planning application in and a fans forum sorted.

Best wishes,
EC.

Not such an issue when you already have Hirst, Jackson, Chaplin, Broadhead and Burns as options to play there mind, as opposed to us having *checks notes* Harris.
Burns and Chaplin are not CFs. It's like suggesting that Ruben and Mills were strikers.
Hirst is injured- and has been their main striker all season.
Ladipo and Jackson have been the back up strikers and Ladipo has been deemed not good enough.
So I can see why Ipswich need a striker.

Yes just reading the OM slightly depressing, gone from in by this weekend to now before the window ends. And happy with the midfield, it works against average teams but not against the best teams ,let's hope for good signings. And hopefully a good end to the season ,but we have got a great chance of the play offs we aren't going up automatically Peterborough, Derby ,Bolton or Portsmouth will fill those slots ,but we have got the chance of the play offs which gives you more chance of attracting players for next season. So can't see anyone coming in today .

Maybe this is one reason Kip didn't get the vacant managers job at Charlton🤔

They were a bit concerned by who he might play as striker and decided they'd had enough of that nonsense when Robbo was their manager.

Be amazed if Des actually looks at that centre midfield department and thinks it's OK but probably can't be too honest. More than likely he'd do something about it but can't.

If the midfield needs tweeking do it ,6 days to go iam sure the club don't want to miss the opportunity of the play offs. What ever happens momentum is so important.
