I like your work, keep it goingCumming sirname:
Scottish (of Norman origin): most probably a habitational name from Bosc-Benard-Commin in Eure, France. This place lies on the edge of the Forêt de Rouvray, near Rouen, in the heart of the district from which came numerous Domesday barons, and so is much more likely to be the source of the name than Comines in Nord. The name is also possibly derived from the personal name Cumin, which is found in Norfolk, Lincolnshire, and Yorkshire in the 12th and 13th centuries and may be of Breton origin, according to Reaney. Compare Old Breton Cunmin, which also appears as Cumin, and is from con- ‘hound’ with an uncertain second element, perhaps the min ‘edge’ which is found in other personal names.
Burey sirname:
English (southern): nickname from Middle English burry 'rough, shaggy'. English: alternatively, a topographic name for someone who lived '(by the) borough enclosure', Middle English bur(g)h + hei(e), hai(e) (Old English burg 'borough'+ (ge)hæg 'enclosure').
Bennett sirname:
Bennett is an English surname with Anglo-Norman roots, found in records as early as the 1200s and thought to mostly have a patronymic origin. It refers to someone who was the son or descendant of a person named Benedict. Bennett is the English version of the Norman name 'Benet'.
Some very strong anglo-norman signings.
Agree totally.. it will be "Mark is coming into form, Gats is looking great in training and Tyler B can play there if needed" can see it a mile off!I won’t be at all surprised if the club are praying that Harris continues his recent scoring streak, albeit only two goals, to buy a little bit of time until the summer for that genuine number 9. If he gets a goal or two tomorrow then I can see us settling on maybe the lad from Blackburn as the alternative to Harris. There will be more choice , with clubs reassessing their options, and probably more value in the summer with contracts either up or a full year further on.
I‘m far from convinced we are near to signing a noteworthy striker, we are approaching the halfway point and I think if we were seriously in for someone the groundwork would have been done and we’d have struck by now.
And we can all see your negative posts a mile off! Have a little faith for once KipAgree totally.. it will be "Mark is coming into form, Gats is looking great in training and Tyler B can play there if needed" can see it a mile off!

Nobody knew Burey was incoming in January. Why would that be different for a striker?I think it’s called realism. We are nowhere near a striker in my opinion. It will be a kid in with about three days left. If we were close to anyone of repute - Ladapo, Clarke-Harris, Marriott etc - I think it would have surfaced by now. Unless Waldron can deliver us the striker we’ve craved for four transfer windows now then, I don’t care who else we sign, it will have been a hugely frustrating and ultimately disappointing transfer window - again.
That isn’t Kips point though is it, everyone agrees we need a striker, that’s nothing new.Kip gets a lot of stick but I'm in total agreement with his that it's pivotal we sign a proven "number 9" and that will be the difference between play-offs and mediocrity.

Ahhh, the good old 20 goals a season striker, could you name me 5 of those type of strikers in league one this season? It’s just my opinion that it won’t be that elusive, recognised and guaranteed 20 goals a season, striker that we get in. Yes, of course we will sign a striker but it will be late in the window and it will be a relatively unknown youngster - who we will be told has bags of potential - but hardly a senior goal to his name.
Likewise, I think any Oxford fan could have predicted we will be signing a wide attacker, who can perhaps operate down the middle, like Burley, and with a strike rate of about 1 in 8 or 9. It’s what we specialise in. It’s the hardest spot in the team to fill and Waldron failed badly in the summer and is not filling us with much confidence in this winter window either.
I‘d love to be proved wrong though.

If you constantly want to see the club signing a striker who will get you 20 goals for certain every season, you’ll always be disappointed.
We need a poacher type who will get 10-15 goals a season and I believe we will see this type of player coming into the club this month.
I agree plus it appears that many fans think we have a huge bank account with vast amounts of money.I would guess the lack of an incoming striker is not through a lack of want or trying, hence Buckingham’s early confidence, but more a reflection of the scarcity of such and the impact that has on transfer fees and the player’s agent’s demands subsequently. Will we get one in, I’m not that confident but would be nice to be proved wrong.
Yet at least 5 of them are worth over a million quid which we don’t really have to spend on 1 player.Sky Bet League One | Goalscorers | Football Web Pages

Well 8 players here with over 10 goals at about halfway through the season.
So a third of the teams managed to do it
The thing is we need 2 if not 3 strikers to allow for injuries, rotation and impact off the bench. GO’D isn’t that player and needs a loan, so other than Harris who is a forward and not a striker we have no one. Most top L1 sides have 3 or 4 strikers in their squads to allow for the things I’ve mentioned. We’ve been very very lucky Harris has stayed fit and proved very robust, otherwise we’d have had nothing at all up top for most of the season other than a false 9.I won’t be at all surprised if the club are praying that Harris continues his recent scoring streak, albeit only two goals, to buy a little bit of time until the summer for that genuine number 9. The players they're signing look to be very high calibre and they already have May, Dobson and Blackett-Taylor in the building who are top players at this level. They don't seem to be sorting their defence out though and probably need 2 points a game for the rest of the season which isn't happening, that's without taking into account they're in dire form currently.
If Ladapo was a possibility, but you knew you had to wait til late in the window, what would you do?If we were close to anyone of repute - Ladapo, Clarke-Harris, Marriott etc - I think it would have surfaced by now.
