League One Swindon on the brink

Swindon shouldn’t be too despondent. They always have the option of merging with Swindon Supermarine and dropping a few divisions in the process.

Sadly Rochdale's defence is that bad I expect the Scummers to win this one.

I agree. Swindon are godawful this season but have secured wins against fellow relegation threatened sides like Bristol Rovers twice, Northampton, Wigan, Burton (during their horror run) and Rochdale. They’re keeping themselves in it with those wins. Their next two are Rochdale and Wimbledon. Four points or more from those and they’re right back into the safety positions again ...

I want Wimbledon to stay up so I can hope to pay a visit to their new stadium next season. Even a nondescript new build stadium would feel like an upgrade on Kingsmeadow. We could at least see all of the pitch at the new Plough Lane!

My perfect last day of the season
We get into the playoffs
Scum go down.
Northampton go down.
Bristol rovers go down.
Wimbledon go down.
scum being fifth from bottom on the last day then Wigan or Rochdale scoring late on putting them down. Bliss.

Yes those would be my choices to go down - annoying near neighbours and near rivals. Also Wycombe to come back down of course. I’ve decided our real rivals are Portsmouth- we play them a lot, they are generally pretty good, and there is a good mixture of dislike and grudging respect in there.

I think Rovers might be my most hated club aside from Scum. I can't stand their scummy fans and the fact that they nearly always beat us at home!

Dirty bastard was Rogers (old fashioned centre forward too .....Gary Briggs wouldve nullified him I reckon) ...if memory serves , in an early oxford v scum match at the Manor , Rogers ran full tilt at our keeper, who was holding the ball at the time,( at the London road end) and shoulder charged our keeper ( who's id eludes me atm) over the goal line...and Rogers was awarded a goal !
Rogers was a winger.

I think Northampton may survive but Bristol Rovers do look good as they seem to screw up a lot in key moments in their recent games looking in from the outside.

Northampton’s remaining games:
Peterborough A
Ipswich H
Gillingham A
Blackpool H
Sunderland A

Would be concerned if I was a Cobblers fan. Can’t see Rochdale getting out of it, losing Henderson and Camps was never going to be easy. Swindon have to play Rochdale, Wimbledon and Wigan away 😳

That might change things somewhat for Northampton. If Wigan and Wimbledon replicate yesterday's performances then that might not help Swindon.

Speaking to a Swindon supporting mate tonight, he thinks they could be going into administration withing the next 48 hours. Power not able to sell the club whilst the court case is ongoing. But if they go into administration, they can sell and they have 2 potential buyers.

Where's the additional benefit for Power in going into admin than what is already going on? He is the one who would decide this unless he really has run out of money which I doubt considering he has ownership of the development for the new training ground.

Any sale proceeds would be used to benefit creditors unless that is Power but that would still be subject to the court case and whether Standing would be due his share. Also, if Power hangs on, they still have sellable assets in a few young players like Odimayo (rumoured Preston are looking at) and Twine (a few clubs are interested apparently including Championship clubs). I was under the impression that a sale could happen if Power and Standing agree to it but any proceeds are held in an account until a decision is made by the Court.

This is getting better and better.

The thought of their collective unhappiness just fills me with such glee.

Hoping for a significant deepening of the crisis and a deserved liquidation.
