Didn’t Hull council build them a ground and then give it to the club?

Oxford is in a great location to attract a large fan base, sat between London, Birmingham and the south cost there are no really big established clubs. Reading are trying hard I guess.

We don’t have the ambition to sort the ground out it would seem. Without it we will never be able to compete with the likes of Hull.
Ambition or the finances?

Appears we missed out on Cadden and Whyte, hopefully Holland is still a possibility...
Why are we always looking up for players of late. It seems we bust a gut to convince higher level players to join us when it seems they don’t really want to. We mess about waiting and waiting and end up scratching about. There must be excellent young players in the leagues below who could step up and would jump at the chance to join a league 1 club.

Good L2 and even national league players with championship potential go for serious money. Its not our model.

Curious how you think they might be another Kassam making a quick buck?
Maybe the club is the carrot to obtaining a new complex?

Everyone goes on about a shiny new stadium but it's of little use if any owners do not fund on pitch activities as well.

As things stand the kassam is a football stadium but are the various businesses around it up for negotiation

Exactly we just don’t have the finances to operate this model, just look at the lad that went from Boreham Wood to Huddersfield for a reported 2m. The higher you go the more they will cost as well. Kwame Poku as an example is a very good young player in L2, the sort of player I would expect Peterborough to go for if they lost Dembele, I’m sure they’d be after at least 1m for him though and realistically he’s still proven very little and would be a massive risk for a club like ourselves.

We bought Rob Atkinson from NL Eastleigh last January.

Not sure it's been picked up, but Derby are tyring to sell some of their young players to raise funds as they've not paid their players in full due to the pending takeover. Wonder if we have anyone in mind with Craig Short's connections to the club...

Take a look at Max Watters. Was on trial at clubs in the summer...had a trial at Maidenhead who played against Crawley...Crawley then signed him...now about to move to Cardiff (most probably close to 1mill). Players in the EFL will become more expensive due to brexit (assuming they’re on decent contract lengths). That said, plenty of talent in league two/national league.

Think we have done our time in terms paying good money for a young Derby player i. e Hanson.

Exactly and I don’t doubt he’ll now jump straight up to the championship. Yeh there’s always exceptions to the rule and as Marked Ox pointed out we will from time to time pick up players such as Atkinson but still an unrealistic aim for us as a club to pick up the best you do talent from the lower leagues, there’s far better off clubs financially who have a proven track record of doing that.

Are we that much financially worse off than Peterboro? Except for the ground situation we are pretty similar arent we? Their model of selling for big fees and buying the cream of league 2 and conference for big fees seems to works pretty well. Interested to why we don't do similar.
