Transfer News Transfer window 2020/21

I’m pretty sure they generally pick up bits from other accounts with a lot more credibility.
So, that means that this may have come from a credible source? Not sure why they would want him back. He’s only just hit form for us and I’m not sure that form will translate to Championship level.

Possibly but half the stuff they put out is rubbish as well. I can’t think QPR would take him back yet, if there relying on him to get them out the trouble their in then they are in serious trouble.

There's a difference between what we need and what we want in this transfer window.

Midfield is looking OK, and much better with Brannagan and Hanson back in. But I think we may look to bring in a longer term addition. This may be signing Kelly on a permanent deal, or looking at a player similar to Woodburn who can play in the hole behind Taylor/Winnall. This is a position that Hall has looked OK in, but isn't at the standard we need long term.
Scotchers : OUFC and Charlton were linked in December with Morecambe FC midfielder Aaron Wildig who plays as a number ten
and could be OOC in the summer. He’s done well this season and Morecambe are the form team in L2.

Out of interest, do you also think we should bring in a replacement for Stevens?
Out of interest, like most clubs, we need 2 competitive keepers over a season, to push for promotion. Makes no difference to me who they are. Unlike some, I don't believe Eastwood should be burnt at the stake just yet. He has been an excellent keeper for a very long period, and a good keeper doesn't suddenly become a poor keeper in a few weeks. All players have poor spells, it's just unfortunate that it becomes more noticeable with a keeper.

It helps that Stevens looks so solid for us that it's hard to imagine his form dipping. He is the one good thing to come out of this season so far. Other than the performance on Saturday.

I really hope that you are right but Stevens is a very young keeper and all keepers' forms dip at some stage.
De Gea, Hart, Pickford ( the latter two were excellent young keepers)
With young players you just don't know how they will cope when inevitably they make a couple of mistakes.

You're beginning to sound like uncle Kip.

Doesn’t that apply to all players, regardless of age? I know goalies are criticised more than most so I do agree with your point. One mistake can cost the team a game. Midfielders can often get away with it. However, let’s use Henry as an example; his confidence has been completely shot, since the play off final. Has he recovered? I don’t think so.

We need a centre back. I've heard that we're looking at an established player at league 2 level who's out of contract in the summer as well as a couple of prospects in the Rob Atkinson mould. If we assume that Mous will not play much (or at all if taking off the squad numbers) then an established player may be the best option, but I wouldn't rule out also bringing a younger player in and loaning them back out as well.

Thinking about it over the weekend - the issue we have is that while we definitely do need to bring in another CB to replace Mous this window, otherwise we're screwed if anything happens to Moore or Atkinson, we can't promise that player any regular football other than the tinpot trophy (which could be just one more game)

Given how good Moore and Atkinson are starting to look, their age and potential, and the fact that we're not certain but very likely to be playing in this division again next season, those two should be automatic selections for the rest of the year barring injury or suspension.

If we can find a Charlie Raglan type that will do a job, collect a wage and not kick up too much of a fuss about a lack of game time, great. But that might be tough to find in the January window (unless it's someone who's not been able to find a club since the summer - in which case you worry whether they can still play).

So I think a youngster with potential (and a bit more experience and game time than Nico Jones) coming down from the big academies or up from non-league is probably the logical move......

That's a little unfair!
Do you disagree that all players go through a dip in form and until this happens you don't really know how they will cope?
No, you just sound as though you are preparing the ground for him to fail.
