Why are some people acting as though he did anything other than what he is employed and paid to do? ?

For every one good thing that Eastwood does, a couple of mistakes are right around the corner. He has been out of form for some time and he thinks he is untouchable. That has to change..

Jack Stevens should be our #1.

I agree that I would like to see more of Stevens in future, and feel he's closer than ever to getting his chance, but a goalkeeper is only as good as his defence, and Stevens would find it just as tough with that backline in front of him making so many mistakes.

Do you think all outfield players never make mistakes, misplaced passes, missed chances, lose tackles etc?!? But unfortunately a goalkeepers mistakes are amplified ten fold, as they usually end up in a goal, but even world class keepers will make mistakes, especially if their defence regularly lets them down.

He's not performing to the levels we'd become accustomed to, but we could say that about a number of players, but to say Eastwood's so out of form and to lay so much blame and responsibility at his door is laughable, especially when we have a lot more pressing concerns that need addressing more than our goalkeeper.

We would be in the championship now if we had replaced eastwood with a decent league one keeper last season. He costs us too many goals with basic gk errors.

Frustrating to watch today. Poor in both boxes is an understatement. Sorry to throw under the bus but Clare had another day to forget and was also at fault for their 3rd (imo), caught ball watching and not close enough to Graham. We are a good side, better than Gills, but our defence is weak and we have no strength in depth. Still think we could do well this season but god do we make things difficult for ourselves.

Are you joking, it was obvious that Robinson and him fell out as Robinson never played towards the end, hence why he ended leaving.

It's a team sport, and there's not one single individual who can be held responsible for a team's success or failings over 90 minutes, or a whole season, they all contribute, good or bad, to the final outcome, and yes, one of our defenders scored the goal that got us to the playoffs, but he then proceeded to underperform throughout the playoffs, along with the rest of the team.

They ALL make mistakes, and it costs us, and they ALL do good things that win us games.

Don't get me wrong, just as I have acknowledged any players mistakes or loss of form, I've also acknowledged Eastwood's mistakes, and drop in performance for a while, and have suggested Stevens must be in with a shout for the no 1 position for a while, but I refuse to act like Simon Eastwood is responsible for all our shortcomings.

Can’t help but think that if the raw, but clinical finisher that is Osei Yaw we’d of won today.

The boy is a natural finisher, and I can’t believe he didn’t even make the bench.

Not really, he isn’t a brilliant right back but the current one is as good at defending as university students are at social distancing.

Yes you need a team who know their positions and jobs but Easty was very at fault for important first goal while Clare just isn't a defender , couple that with missing sitters Bran and Matty then individual errors cost us dearly.

How can Clare be at fault for the first, by getting skinned easily, but then Ruffels not be at fault for the third by getting skinned easily?

The first was bad play three times... Clare getting beat, not winning the header, and Eastwood feeble attempt.

But some make more errors while others perform better % wise. Therefore over a season a couple of poor performers cost the team points and success . Need to get rid of the week links and replace with better performers .

I actually played football for years at a pretty decent standard, and was a player/coach for several seasons as well thank you very much!

But yes, I agree, Eastwood should've done a lot better for their first goal, which I did notice after I'd posted, that I'd forgot to mention.

But other than that, he didn't do much wrong, and the 7/10 I gave him was bumped up by the 2 world class saves he made more than anything else.

Eastwood also had a couple of dodgy moments with his distribution early on but the main point here is getting beaten at his near post, by a header which was at a good height for him to save, was absolutely criminal, no matter how much some people on here try and excuse it.
