Histon are now in the Isthmian League North Division, so tier 8 of the pyramid. It was never going to last for a team of that size.

They’re managed by Lance Key too who played for them for a number of years and had a brief loan spell with us 25 years ago.

My main memory of this defeat was how cold I was and the lack of warmth from the performance
I can't remember if it was this game (I think I went to all of our games at Histon) but there was one that sticks in my mind as being absolutely freezing. The cold worked it's way up my legs as the game went on and I don't think I've ever been so chilled - and that includes coming out of a game at Northampton half covered in snow!.
I do remember on the way out of the 2-5 game shouting at the team coach driver to go home on his own and make the useless buggers walk home!

Was there, you just knew after the second went in we would go on and win it. Boy were we bad in the first half though...

in the London Road end it was cage first then moat ( then the pitch surrounding track-/ then the pitch)... wasnt it?
I have only just seen this post , I don’t think this was the case .
The moat was first by a few years , I recall jumping over the moat at LR a few times ( I seemed to drop my bobble hat a few times over the wall 🤔 and I had to go and fetch it) mind now I don’t think I could even crawl over now this was round 1979 ish ? The fence was much later in fact i think when we went into higher leagues and the cage behind the goal was round 1983 ish ?
Answer on a post card please 👀

Could be way out on the year, but wasn't the Luton V Millwall 'incident' ( '85 I think?) a factor in caging in supporters at football matches in the UK? .... it was a factor/ the factor in the banning of away fans at Kenilworth road for some seasons, and very nearly resulted in ID cards being required for football fans in England.... Im not certain whether cages were/ had started being installed pre '85 ... it was definately under fat Bob Maxwells ownership that cages were installed at the Manor

Yes I had forgot about the ID thing . Okay was the cage after the fence then ? I thought it was the cage first , but from what you are saying, that’s not the case.
