Scroll back 35 years or so, and we used to settle down to tea to watch the Newshound(remember him, featuring Oscar the dog), and Gary Newbon, on ITV South Central. Today BBC South Today extends to Banbury or Bicester. So does that make Oxford located in the South/South East?

Well if you go by the church of England dioceses then the choice is Canterbury or York. Obviously Oxford falls under York.

By counties, I have always thought counties that have south coastal boundaries are South and then divide those by South West and South East.

The Midlands is to the North of the Shire, Warwickshire, Northants etc.

So we are South Midlands.............
