I was going to say you're only meant to choose five but after seeing your 'Hated' you're allowed everyone.

Tony Ashton was one of the most underrated/underachieving musicians. I love the Paice Ashton Lord record. Gonna stop drinking is the saddest song you can imagine when you look at his struggle with the bottle.

Saw them once wow what a gig, saw Mud to and I have to say for the time they performed a lot of us Matelot’s were well impressed.
The artist I wanted to see but never got the chance were T Rex, but I did see Showaddy waddy supported by the arrows who performed their track “ I lone rock and roll “ I was only 13 at the time

Yeah, but how many times did you see Gary Glitter! 😳

This is not definitive, how could it be.
We all have so many tunes and artists that touched us at a particular time/gig.
Some we revisit, others not .
Loved:
Top 65/66 Radio Favourites:
Positively 4th Street by Bob Dylan.
Turn,Turn,Turn by The Byrds
Northern Soul:
I was born to love you by Herbie Hunter-it’s one of very many early tunes from 67 which I heard at all nighters in Derby,Nottingham & Manchester.
Folk:
The Lady by the late Sandy Denny.
Sandy had a wonderful voice.
Saw her first with Fairport and then Fotheringay at Oxford Town Hall in 1970.
Indie(?)

Born to Die by Lana Del Ray- top album and top track by a unique “ chalk or cheese”artist.
She’s s**t live !
Jesus to a child by the late George Michael- his last Earls Court gigs were epic.
Alison by Slowdive - timeless from 93(?).
Reformed in 2017-live gigs are a wall of sound .

Sandy Denny reminds of the first time I came across by accident Kate Rusby. Mrs YR and I were in St Ives, Cornwall about 25 years ago when there happened to be a mini folk music festival going on with various acts playing in different venues across the town. One of those acts playing in the local town hall was Kate Rusby who I’d never heard of, but clearly an up and coming ‘name’ on the folk scene at the time.

Normally I can only take Folk music in small doses, but I have to say live her voice blew me away, I’ve seen her live several times since, the voice of an angel.

So here’s a Kate Rusby link to a well known Sandy Denny track, ‘Who knows where the time goes?’

This is quite nice.

This is very nice.

I'm for this: (Acquamarine dream)

And this is poetry:

L'aur amara
fa'ls bruels brancutz

que'l dous'espeis'ab fuelhs,
e'ls letz

dels auzels ramencx
te babs e mutz,
pars

per que m'esfortz
per far e dir
plazers
a manhs per lei
qui m'a virat bas d'aut,
don tem morir
si l'afans no m'asoma.

Tan fo clara
ma prima lutz

Read it aloud, it's in an old language called Occitan. Some sort of translation bbelow

That's funny, I saw Fairport Convention by mistake once in Cornwall. We were in St Ives and passed a theatre that had the doors open, with Fairport Convention playing. They let us come in and watch the last few songs. This was the jolly, beery recent version of the band, not with Sandy Denny sadly!

Taylor Swift for me is like golf, anime or drinking whisky. I know it must be good because so many people like it but I don't understand it at all.
