Did we nearly go bust last season? Theres a difference between showing a level of ambition and paying someone 10k a week in League 1.

Sunderland wanted to keep him and ge was looking to sign for a Championship club as a free agent.
The fact that Wigan seem to have hijacked that is unbelievable.
The Pompey chairman was suggesting that Sunderland, Wigan and Ipswich are paying ridiculous amounts of money and even Pompey can't remotely compete

A 3 year deal at 10k a week is the same sort of money we received for Atkinson. Not that over-priced (top scorer in L1) for a team looking to jump to the championship

This is just one player and Wigan get crowds of what 7 000?
A pretty huge amount for a club recently out of administration and with relatively small crowds

In terms of recent history - decent PL club for a few years, FA Cup winners, good ground - they are a fairly big club, but as you say where are the fans? It's not looking very sustainable.
 
Charlton sign defender Akin Famewo on a season long loan from Norwich. He was on loan there last season as well.
 
Accrington sign 22yo forward Joe Hardy on a 2 year deal after his release by Liverpool.
 
Morecambe sign 26yo left-back Greg Leigh after his release from Aberdeen.
