International News Covid-19 .....

If it gets announced this week it will still take a long, long time to happen.
Change is always happening in the public sector, it is an industry in itself with specialist Change Managers coming in, causing chaos for 2 years then fecking off to cause chaos elsewhere with a "success" box ticked on the CV even if it is an abject failure.

The 1st stage is effective from September and be finished by Spring, it is in the article.

I've worked in the public sector so know all about constant "change", often for being seen to do something/oppose previous change from political opponents (all parties are guilty)! For such a significant change, this is rapid even by public sector standards and recent Tory Govts' reorganisations of the NHS haven't gone the best.

I'm not sure it is much better in the private sector. I am so glad to be near or at early retirement with the trend for employing these Change/Project Managers and their gobbledegook. If I wanted to talk about Scrum Managers, I would go to a rugby match; if I wanted an Agile project I would take up yoga; if I wanted a Sprint, I would go for a run, etc.

Why do companies make changes harder by introducing additional terminology, confusion and complexity and have projects run by project managers who don't understand the technicalities? I have never seen such inefficiencies, stupid decisions, so many mistakes and such abject wastes of time and money in all my working career as in the last few years.

Everyone seems to have forgotten KISS (Keep It Simple Stupid).

I think you must work at my place! Those project managers are annoying and an extra cost

You know how the Change Managers keep getting new jobs even when falling. Well apparently it applies to Tory appointees as well:

So much for it being an independent body like the German organisation they are modelling on.

She`s got photographs............ or something!

I`m all for a German model that has the "clout" to take on the larger societal issues and, dare I say, big business.

She must have!

She won't take on big business considering her previous roles and Serco etc being in the centre of the "sub par" track and trace system she led the building of. Certainly, it seems it is easier to sack upwards rather than get them out based on poor performance.

The brief moment of hope of a truly independent organisation has ended on this appointment and of course no conflict of interest exists with her already being head of the NHS Regulator, NHS Improvement. I fully expect contracts for data management etc to be made with Dom's mates with Coronavirus being an opportunity to capitalise on, which at any other time/previous Govts would be called corruption.

One saving grace is she is only "Interim" although a dose of nepotism often ensures that becomes permanent after "initial success".

Me cynical? Nope..... not much!

Ermmmmmmmmmmmmmm.................. Europe doing "less well"?

:eek::eek:View attachment 4360

France and Spain doing less well but the UK, Germany and Italy (so not really Europe, just 5 countries) levelled out at the moment.

Any reason for the big jump in those two countries? No big increase in deaths in either of them yet though, so like here, makes you think it’s 40s and under getting it in numbers.

Haven't a load of Brits just been on holiday there? :)

9054 people in Leicestershire have tested positive - up from 8987 (increase 67).
5545 (increase of 53) are within the Leicester City Council area.
3509 (increase of 14) cases were reported in the County.

UHL Deaths remain at 439.

Locally there has been a bit of a spat about numbers. Allegedly the numbers published are "blaming certain areas". So the powers that be have asked that suppressed data be added to the graphs. This is where there are 2 or less cases found in an area in a 7 day period. It is suppressed to protect identities as, according to data protection laws, it is too specific. So we have added 17 weeks of suppressed data to each area, If we take Danehills & Western Park for example. There have been 17 weeks of suppressed data. This means that there could have been anywhere between 0 to 34 (blue line) extra positive cases on top of the 33 that there is data for. ........................and the result is the same!

What is classed as a mitigation measure for under 2m Social distancing? (Apart from face coverings).

Are sneeze screens one? Meaning in offices if staff are under 2m they don't need face coverings if there is a sneeze screen?

Yep, physical mitigation be it screens, visors or masks as suits. Much depends on the environment and the exposure over time to other people.
Our reception desks have screens and staff are also wearing masks due to environmental risk (eg: Hospitals attract sick folk!)
Elsewhere all staff have to wear surgical masks on site.

Its a small office only 2 in max at one time, screens but desks under 2m apart would face masks be needed too
