I posted previously that this was one game that needed something extra if we were to build momentum, and it's disappointing that we haven't done more. The #HerGameToo announcement is great, but a little underwhelming considering how that could have been really sold. Alongside international womens day, we could have made a big thing of celebrating the Women's team and their success this season, Amy and others behind the scenes, even players wives and mums etc. When we're looking to attract more and more families it would have been a great opportunity to show that women are not only welcome in the game, but are a fundamental part of everything good about our club.
However, having said all of that, we are ultimately relying on the likes of Chris Williams, Rosie, Andy Taylor and a few others to make these things happen. Not only have they been working their socks off in their day jobs, they've also been up and down the country with the team over the last few weeks. Also, we have lost a legend in Joey, but they have lost a friend. We all want more, but I think that sometimes we have to put these people first. As we saw on the pitch this week, maybe this is one game too far and we need to rest and recover ahead of a big push for the rest of the season.
