Matches Burton 9k+?

If you can’t attend every game for whatever reason so have to pick and choose then out of all the recent and upcoming games then this isn’t going to be one you attend out of choice is it?

Given the low amount of away fans if we hit 8,000 then as said above that is pretty decent.
It’s unusual to have two home games on consecutive Saturdays, a lot of people like to do other stuff when we are away.

We've had an incredible run of games at home, and have another 4 huge games to follow. Maybe this is just one for everyone to take a breath. As mentioned previously, the media team and so many more, worked tirelessly to support last Saturday for Joey. They will be drained physically and emotionally, and maybe one more promotion is beyond them. Equally, times are tough for many with petrol and domestic fuel bills going through the roof and everything else going on in the world right now.

Yes, 9k would have been great, but maybe too much in the bigger picture. We still have the opportunity to big this game up ourselves, encourage friends and family to come, and maybe look at those who may not feel comfortable in a huge crowd?
I am not sure that it needed a huge amount of pushing?
It sounded as if something was being planned at the start of the week.
This if anything was the one game for the rest if the season that DID need some promotion/ incentives.

Hopefully an announcement today on a new initiative to attract the crowds......believe we tried it out against York (Easter Monday possibly) a few seasons ago? But not to this scale

Wasn't that just giving out free tickets?

Got my ticket for Saturday. First time in a while due to new arrivals etc.

I posted previously that this was one game that needed something extra if we were to build momentum, and it's disappointing that we haven't done more. The #HerGameToo announcement is great, but a little underwhelming considering how that could have been really sold. Alongside international womens day, we could have made a big thing of celebrating the Women's team and their success this season, Amy and others behind the scenes, even players wives and mums etc. When we're looking to attract more and more families it would have been a great opportunity to show that women are not only welcome in the game, but are a fundamental part of everything good about our club.

However, having said all of that, we are ultimately relying on the likes of Chris Williams, Rosie, Andy Taylor and a few others to make these things happen. Not only have they been working their socks off in their day jobs, they've also been up and down the country with the team over the last few weeks. Also, we have lost a legend in Joey, but they have lost a friend. We all want more, but I think that sometimes we have to put these people first. As we saw on the pitch this week, maybe this is one game too far and we need to rest and recover ahead of a big push for the rest of the season.

Personally, I'm not sure that you can 'push' every game. There are some games that sell themselves (local derbies, 'special' games like last Saturday, vs Prem opposition in cups, the other 'big' teams in the division, pivotal promotion/relegation games etc) and they quite often have a sizeable away support - which in itself swells the numbers by a large amount. Given that Burton will probably bring less than 400 and (with the best will in the world) the game does not fall into any of those categories, it does seem like pushing water uphill to try to bolster the numbers significantly. Certainly you'd imagine that 9,000 would be a bloody good gate for that fixture.

More to do with outside the ground. I could be completely wrong on when it happened, but we've trialed it before.

This one really is not flying.

6,250 home sales at midnight. I think we're looking at 8,000 total sales maximum. As said above though, that's probably over 1,000 more than we'd normally get for this game. I'll check and report back.
Interesting attendance stats against Burton.

We've played them seven times at home since re-entering the League in 2010/2011. The average attendance at these games is 6,142. Four have been Saturdays, two have been Tuesdays and one a Sunday. Not sure why we played them on a Sunday? In our second season back the attendance against Burton was 8,043, which stands out as higher than the other home fixtures against similar teams that season. I'm not sure if we did some sort of ticket promotion? I have a vague recollection that we might have. Take that game out of the equation and our average against them drops to 5,825.

So, in retrospect, 8,000 against them, with no ticket promotion this season, is very good, and about 2,000 more than we normally get against them.

The Sunday game, was that the last game of last season? All games that day moved for TV.

There were some delays from the Club in finalising the partnership with HGT, but it will feature highly today and tomorrow. We will have several of the women's team at the OUSP meet and greet on Saturday, and some girls teams coming to watch. There were great things planned for next week's table-topping match v Southampton that have been scaled back through no fault of the club - I would urge you all to think about going to the match at CPF on Wednesday.

I agree with @OUSP Secretary comment about urging OUFC supporters to pop along and watch the Yellow Roses ( OUWFC) , Ive been a few times now* , they're a decent side - and are top of their league currently , with the opportunity to win promotion into Women's football's 2nd tier/ Championship. They won their last home game 7-0 , and , in the league, are unbeaten at home (CPF) in 11 games.

* its just a ten minute walk for me to CPF

BTW- I have sent you a DM @OUSP Secretary

No, I didn't include that, as fans weren't allowed at that game. It was towards the end of the season in 2010/2011 our first season back. It was a 3-0 victory, if that jogs any memories?
