International News Black Lives Matter

I can see the wider picture

Middle aged White bloke in Leicester seems to be blaming black victims for being killed by the police.

How do you think black people in the US should behave given they have a realistic expectation that any encounter with the police may end in their being shot?

Anonymous marxist - liberal pant wetter on internet forum about football pigeon holes another human being. :rolleyes:

Look at the interaction........ they won`t get shot for being compliant, they may well get shot for doing something suspicious like reaching into a car!
To generically say "any encounter with the police may end in their being shot" is complete and utter tosh and you know it.

I`ll even help you with some statistics.... https://www.statista.com/statistics/585152/people-shot-to-death-by-us-police-by-race/

Well done on reading the links so quickly and then completely ignoring that aspect as well.

You're an offensive and tedious bore.

Yes more white people than black people are shot by the police, because there are a lot more white people than black people in the US.

"They won't get shot for being compliant"

Breanna Taylor was shot when she was asleep.

You need to make an argument that Black people stopped by the police won't be shot for being compliant.

And how compliant to the police do you think they should be? Should they say "yes massa"? Should they touch their forelocks?

based on your offensive and tedious posts

Excellent debating skills - matching your fact-free observations that Black people won't get shot for ' being compliant".

And so it goes on....................

Lets just erase art, culture & history.................
Fool believes distraction from Conservative Supporting newspaper to distract from coronavirus death toll and exams fiasco

There won't be mass communal singing of anything indoors anywhere for a while because it's a massive health risk

Based on the number of arrests (link provided) and the number of deaths (link provided) it looks like there is a very small percentage of people shot by the police. Do your homework.

Nice belated edit.................. shame it was quoted before that eh?

Breanna Taylor was shot in the cross fire of a gun battle between her boyfriend (who feared they were intruders) and the police (who were at the wrong address). Doesn`t make it right in any way but yet again escalation leads to injury/death.

Americans with guns............. again.

how compliant should black people be when stopped by the police?
How should they respond when armed police break into their houses?

The choice of whether or not to dub lyrics for the last night of the proms has nothing whatsoever to do with Black Lives Matter.

The words are ridiculous bombast but that’s another story

Reading the BBC article on the Last Night of the Proms stuff, the decision is purely because choral singing is one of the worst possible things for spreading the virus. So Johnson's pompous windbaggery about it is just soundbite politics and about all we have come to expect from him.

Broadcast last years, change the date....... everyone will be on the port & cheese and won`t notice.

Its how us entitled, middle aged, whites live whilst looking down on the Asian family two doors down............................... ? ?

Which begs the question - why will the words be sung for other proms "singalong" songs like Jerusalem, but not for LoH&G etc.?

can really see why this stuff would appeal to you

When Britain first, at heaven's command,
Arose from out the azure main,
This was the charter of the land,
And Guardian Angels sang this strain:

Rule, Britannia! Britannia, rule the waves!
Britons never, never, never will be slaves.

The nations not so blest as thee
Must, in their turn, to tyrants fall,
While thou shalt flourish great and free:
The dread and envy of them all.

Rule, Britannia! Britannia, rule the waves!
Britons never, never, never will be slaves.

Still more majestic shalt thou rise,
More dreadful from each foreign stroke,
As the loud blast that tears the skies
Serves but to root thy native oak.

Rule, Britannia! Britannia, rule the waves!
Britons never, never, never will be slaves.

Thee haughty tyrants ne'er shall tame;
All their attempts to bend thee down
Will but arouse thy generous flame,
But work their woe and thy renown.

Rule, Britannia! Britannia, rule the waves!
Britons never, never, never will be slaves.

To thee belongs the rural reign;
Thy cities shall with commerce shine;
All thine shall be the subject main,
And every shore it circles, thine.
Rule, Britannia! Britannia, rule the waves!
Britons never, never, never will be slaves.

The Muses, still with freedom found,
Shall to thy happy coasts repair.
Blest isle! with matchless beauty crowned,
And manly hearts to guard the fair.

Rule, Britannia! Britannia, rule the waves!
Britons never, never, never will be slaves.

The combination of bragging, ignorance of historical fact, and utter nonsense are all right up your alley.
Slavery was legal when it was written.

Meanwhile Land of Hope and Glory has a great tune

the lyrics are a fantasist's demand to expand the British Empire, just as it was starting to crumble.

Can see why you'd like it too,

Solo
Dear Land of Hope, thy hope is crowned,
God make thee mightier yet!
On Sov'ran brows, beloved, renowned,
Once more thy crown is set.
Thine equal laws, by Freedom gained,
Have ruled thee well and long;
By Freedom gained, by Truth maintained,
Thine Empire shall be strong.

Chorus
Land of Hope and Glory, Mother of the Free,
How shall we extol thee, who are born of thee?
Wider still and wider shall thy bounds be set;
God, who made thee mighty, make thee mightier yet,
God, who made thee mighty, make thee mightier yet.

Solo
Thy fame is ancient as the days,
As Ocean large and wide:
A pride that dares, and heeds not praise,
A stern and silent pride;
Not that false joy that dreams content
With what our sires have won;
The blood a hero sire hath spent
Still nerves a hero son.

Chorus

Yeah I love both songs. Hope to hear them sung again as they should be, next year.
