Who is Kelly? sorry OOTL

Also while this is an obvious setback... Would it be harsh to say we haven't really missed him that much? Obviously a talented player who was finding his feet, but I wonder if he gets into our best eleven (assuming no injuries) at this point in time.

Is 24, has played 80+ times in the championship with Reading. Has been on loan in Holland after Stam went there but has only played once since the summer

Kelly is at Feyenoord on a permanent deal (3 year deal), not a loan. If we signed him ahead of Sunderland, the meltdown on their forum would be good viewing.

I realised why, strange really how Liverpool fans got involved in one of the worst incidents ever but in general were viewed as far from the worst at the time!

My Dad is a fellow forum member (Hi Dad) and I know for a FACT, he will always have a problem with Liverpool and their fans, for that incident (as he so frequently tells me). I was a twinkle in his eye when it happened but as I said above, if that happened during my lifetime, i'd feel the very same. It's funny how its almost swept under the rug by English football, as though it never happened.

I can understand the resentment, but were Liverpool exclusively to blame? If so, then why an England-wide ban? Was it because the state of football hooliganism in the country was so bad from a lot of clubs (in which ire can also be directed) or were UEFA too heavy-handed in their punishment? Whichever way you spin it, Liverpool weren't the only guilty party. They may have been the main one, but not the only one.

Which European competition had oxford fans misbehaved in?

I think our ban would have been overturned in the courts Pretty quickly these days

Well that's kind of my point. Either there wasn't a hooligan problem in English football, in which you should also blame UEFA (as well as those Liverpool supporters) for a nationwide ban, or you blame all the other English clubs in Europe (like Leeds and Man Utd) that had documented incidents of hooliganism in Europe too (albeit much more minor in the outcome). And let's not forget that Thatcher wanted all English clubs thrown out too. It's a layered issue, so blaming Liverpool (especially the club before the idiot 'fans' who committed those atrocities) is too simplistic.
