The major upturn in goals and performances - and Posh Gaffer Darren Ferguson mentioned this last night - is due to Oxford being currently outstanding in transitions.

When Peterborough turned the ball over as Oxford pressed, Goodrham finds space in the pocket and is able to feed the outlet (Murphy/Dale) with quality
passes. Goodrham is looking a real threat in a free role behind Harris. To play in this way regards the sitting/holding midfielder whether it is JMac
or Brannagan to get through a prodigious amount of work to firstly read the situation , then win the ball and distribute it.

I was worried in the past couple of weeks with us playing Brannagan and two number tens - Bodin/Goodrham and Rodrigues but in transitions
we look so fluid and full of goals. Murphy on current form is a machine. His pace and power is terrifying defences and he’s a real match winner.
Posh ‘keeper Jed Steer, CB Jason Knight and RB Jadel Katongo in particular had very difficult moments as Oxford ruthlessly pressed and exposed them.

Great interview.

Refreshingly honest and respectful.

I wonder if SE will interview in a similar fashion after we demolish Stevenage on Friday 🤔

A refreshing change from a manager. He summed it up perfectly.

I think in hindsight it was perhaps very much a case of WIP, with Des trying to get his ideas across and the players trying to work it out. Could have been a mixture of a lack of understanding by the players, Des struggling to clearly explain what it was that he wanted out of them and just the passage of time to get things to click.

Either way, yes totally agree it is time to move on from the whole episode. Yesterday’s demolition showed us that we have all the tools in the box.
You could well be right, it’s only my observation that far too much has swung since we coincidentally got our a**e handed to us at Bolton - it’s too drastic a change after months of real turgid football to just happen in an instant. The formation changed, players out of the picture overnight. It honestly feels like a new manager bounce and a totally new regime.

We didn’t threaten to do what we did to Peterborough yesterday to anybody prior to Bolton, we had players who looked lost, disengaged and largely in disarray. Only a few were looking themselves.

The new access to data could certainly be a huge part of it. But they now look like they are comfortable, confident and clear on their jobs and also look like they like & believe in Des which wasn’t obvious from the stands only a month ago. All good and well people close to the club saying how ridiculous that was at the time but that’s what it looked like to so many people, I wasn’t alone. Astonishing transformation.

Looked impressive from the North Stand, but the pitch side camera really highlights what a brilliant finish that was from Billy Bodin.
The only thing that would've made that better is if it floated into the goal slower!

Goals that go in after hitting the bar and bouncing down on the line and lobs/chips that go in slowly are the two most satisfying type of goals in football!

I know I'm going to upset a few people but I found our play from defence to attack was much faster without Brannagan. If he's fit he should only be on the bench Tuesday, keep the fantastic team exactly as yesterday started. And definately McEachran in.

Agree.

Des should learn from Peterborough's mistake yesterday, an unchanged team for 3 games in 6 days cost them dearly.

Definitely something in it, Cam is quality but there's a tendency for him to try and do everything. My hope is that he can see what we're doing and realises he doesn't have to do this and can just focus on a specific role rather than playing on his own, if we can get him playing to his best we'll be a threat.

When was the last time he came off the bench for us? I'm sure he has but I can't ever remember it, seems if he's fit he starts for the last several years.

Morning all, hope we are still riding a crest of a wave after that amazing performance yesterday.

Want to see more great football from our beloved OUFC beyond 2026? Then get your positive comments about our new stadium into the CDC planning portal if you haven't yet! Our clubs future depends on it.

Done!!

Doesn't take long at all (depending on what you want to say)

He’s still one of our best players, and is definitely a standout L1 player. But agree he needs to stick to a specific role. Now that we have found our rhythm, I’m sure Buckingham will make it clear how he needs to play. McEachren amazed me yesterday. Different player to the cautious sideways rubbish we’d seen from him under Manning.

What a thoroughly enjoyable day out. The sun was warming, a slight breeze and the boys playing some great football. 5 goals and none conceded.
Had fun right from the teams coming out as we threw streamers down from the SSU - handed some out to our neighbours who also enjoyed the atmosphere. The SSU was rocking! Even heard singing in the concourse at half time - seriously!
More of the same please.

Must be missing something - you agree we should name an unchanged team because Peterborough named an unchanged team and it cost them dearly?

I think it's difficult for any starting XI to play 3 games in 6 days successfully as Peterborough showed. Hopefully Des won't flog yesterday's starting XI on Tuesday and Friday, rotation will be key.

I think yesterday demonstrated the importance of discipline along side a rogue element with the ability to carry the can.
I think JayMac who is ultra disciplined in his positioning and distribution is a bit underwhelming alongside cam and mcguane, but he becomes pivotal when the guys in front of him have the ability under a bit of pressure to take a man out of the game. Rod and Goodram have a bit of street footballer about them and countless times yesterday they created the crucial overloads from the midfield for Murphy and co to do real damage out wide.
Boro are usually able to nick the ball with their intensity but we were too good technically.

Seeing us play through them properly is a real plus. Cam will have to subscribe to that too if we want to keep watching those types of performances.

Also, I’ve been critical of Sam Long as a right back. Not as a centre back though. Superb.

Agreed, maybe play a similar team on Tuesday and then bring in Brannagan, Moore, McGuane, Browne etc for Friday?
