International News Black Lives Matter

Oxford represented here.

Runs a business down the Cowley Rd, anyone familiar with her?

I've long thought that what the people of Oxford really need is a black militia. Not newer or cheaper homes. Not better transport links to the satellite towns and villages, but a violent black militia.

A military force capable of mercilessly wrestling the chains of white power in bastions of tyranny like the Bodleian library, the botanic gardens and the covered market. A group so unfeeling in their vengeance that they topple the Carfax tower and exile or perhaps enslave the so called "Thames Valley Police", which as we all know is a flimsy cover for a secret network of KKK operatives.

I can only imagine how good our society would be if a black militia was given some real power in this city. Maybe they'd even give us a stadium. But no whites allowed in, of course.

"The officer said he needed to see Insp Ehikioya's driving licence and proof he was insured to drive the car, that the vehicle had not been stolen, and to check he was not drunk or had been using his phone.

He claimed Insp Ehikioya's driving was "unusual", which he strongly disputed, according to the recording."

So do you......
A: Produce the documents, have a laugh and move on?
B: Effectively end your own career because no other officer is going to trust you again?

C: You use the Dawn Butler card, of course ;)

Here we go again........... violent aggressive police + non compliant individual = shot.

Ben Crump (Civil rights lawyer says.....
"They saw a cop shoot their father. They will be traumatized forever. We cannot let officers violate their duty to PROTECT us,"

Elsewhere not a peep.......

"A five year-old boy was shot dead in front of his sisters at point-blank range for cycling into his next-door neighbor’s yard"

OK, so in both cases people were shot.

In one case, the unarmed chap was shot multiple times (reportedly seven times in the back) by people representing the upholding of law, order and justice.
In the other a poor little kid was killed by a neighbour who has been arrested.

I'm struggling to put the two together. The second one is doubtless a real tragedy and will get a lot of coverage locally but (to be hard hearted about it, perhaps) that's what you get when you have a load of guns in a society - bad or mentally ill people get hold of them and do stupid things.
In the first case it *appears* that someone has been the victim of a hugely disproportionate use of force by the very people who are supposed to be on the 'good' side and highly trained.

Whether the policeman in the first incident would have been as aggressive if the chap they were dealing with had been white, who knows? But surely you can see that a) the two cases are chalk and cheese and b) why another incident of American police shooting a black person might be highlighted given recent events?

Edit. For context, I have just looked the figures up. (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gun_violence_in_the_United_States) There are about 40,000 gun related deaths a year, with 25,000 of those by suicide (!!!) and 15,000 classified as homicide. Which is about 40 fatal homicide shootings a day. "Compared to 22 other high-income nations, the U.S. gun-related homicide rate is 25 times higher" - they have a real problem in general, never mind the specifics of this or that case.

And in the second case, the perpetrator has been arrested and charged. Which hasn't been the case for most of the other cases that have caused the BLM uproar (see Breonna Taylor)

Job,colour doesn`t matter..Americans with guns.

The police over there seem to go "front foot first".... why? Americans with guns....

Repeat ad infintum.

Love to see middle aged white men mocking a black woman MP when she complains about being stopped by the police.

Or when she vilifies the policeman, who was doing his job, by social media trial in the echo chamber of twatter?
Where all her "followers will re-tweet that they are offended and "whole heartedly agree" that it was because she was a black woman MP............. and negate the fact that somebody punched a number in wrong.

Summary of what is wrong with society.......... self entitled, arrogant people who make mountains out of molehills so they are the centre of attention to garner re-tweets and likes.

One area I totally agree with you on. However the echo chamber effect, and entitled people looking to make a huge fuss over nothing, happens at both ends of the spectrum.

Well, yes.

But you would at least *hope* that the police had gone through some sort of training that made them a bit more responsible with firearms than your local crystal meth addict!

And you still haven't explained why you think the two incidents you cited are equivalent in any way apart from 'Americans with guns'. If *that* was your point then I suggest you are missing the bigger picture, in which the incidents have very different resonance (whether you like it or not!).

So if the chap who got shot had not ignored said police and not reached into his car (maybe for a gun) then he walks away unharmed.

If next door neighbour did not have easy access to a gun he wouldn`t have executed a 5 year old child.

No resonance needed.................. it is Americans with guns and a culture of violence.
Irrespective of job, race, gender, salary etc.
No need to dress it up as anything else.

Any thoughts about death threats being made to sports stars for not taking the knee. Mine are that until colour is removed from this whole discussion it won’t stop (it completely divides people in several ways). Life is about respect for people and their property. History can not be removed or replaced and needs to be learned from across the globe.
