Manager/Coach Des Buckingham

I really feel that the players have no respect for Des and are picking up a wage and taking the P**s he has losed the dressing room if he ever had it in the first place and I am as disappointed with them as much as I am with Des.

The players clearly have no respect for themselves either.

Why would anyone club want them with that kind of quitters mentality, if they know they're capable of producing that horseshit when they don't feel like actually playing football?

If the players have downed tools for the manager, then doing it live on Sky proves that they're even thicker than we thought.

In any case, Saturday is a big game for Des. The starting line-up, performance and end result will tell us a lot about where we're going.

Still think he'll be given a summer window and until October, though.

Season ticket sales will tank and players will want out unless Des is replaced.

Would you let him wreck another season?

My immediate thought is a little different…

I feel like the club should be looking to bring in a strong assistant who can help bare the load, challenge Des and so on. Colin Calderwood did the same alongside Neil Critchley at Blackpool last time they went up.

It is when you take over a side who are shot of confidence and have got 2 points from their previous 8 games!

For comparison, Des took over a side who had 17 points from their last 8 league games.

So Eustace went from 2 points to 8 points, and Des went from 17 points to 8 points. See the difference?
Eustace said that he wouldn't drop to L1.
So pretty irrelevant?
At Birmingham he turned them round, and I suspect that Bkackburn expected an awful lot more.

And just imagine what will happen if PP for the triangle gets rejected too.

It really does not bear thinking about.

We will be put up for sale. hard to see any takers though so that will probably be that. But the club can't be run thinking like that, what if its granted? Real chance Buckingham could get us relegated next season as he is clueless when it comes to the defensive side of football at this level, only Carlisle have conceded more than us in his time here and they are a rock bottom league one team.

Anyone, realistically, think anything could happen regarding Des and his job between now and Port Vale?

I don't think you can blame the Board for appointing him. He obviously interviewed very well, he's really well regarded as a coach in the City Football Group (I can't stand them, but they do employ the highest rated coaching 'talent'). But he's obviously really struggled to step up. That's why lots of well- regarded coaches don't make good managers. It doesn't matter that he had a 'different' background. Imagine the uproar on here if we had appointed the Lincoln manager- a Leeds u23 coach with a background in Futsal. Where you can blame the Board is their hesitation in firing KR and missing out on Mousinho. Afraid I can't see Buckingham lasting now- I can't see him being trusted with a big summer budget. There's an old business saying- it's not the mis-hire that's the problem, but the problem is not sorting out the mis-hire. The Board will need to act in weeks. not months. All very disappointing.

Even they have to see something isn't right though? The rest of this season is a write off but its dangerous to let someone as, now obviously, out of his depth start next season. Cheltenham will go down because of the terrible start they had, left them to much to do, Buckingham is bad enough for us to do similar till October.

The other thing is, if we were to give him time, is he really a man who can build a promotion winning team in what will be a pretty strong L1 next season ?

Maybe our mistake was just assuming all City group aspiring managers are going to be similar. Don’t think we will be going there again as they clearly aren’t.

It’s all about respect, Mous had it.
And we played for him at Portsmouth.

The seasons over, even if by some MIRACLE, we managed to sneak the playoffs and go up, we’d be cannon fodder in the Championship, and would come straight back down, having done more harm than good.

We’re a complete mess on the pitch.

Give the job to Craig Short for the rest of the season, and let him steady the ship, again.

At least we showed spirit, togetherness and camaraderie under Short, and we could at least salvage a bit of positivity going into the summer, ready for a new manager, back room team, and a new squad.

But Des needs to go now, he’s an amateur apprentice, at best.
Isn't Short part of the problem?
Under him we won but nearly blew a 3 goal lead. Really not sure that would be a good choice.
