Two things from me regarding the game firstly we never do well or play well in league games at Northampton. For what ever reason this season with the exception of Peterborough who are quite obviously a very good team we seem to lose to poorer sides . Secondly it’s sad how many of another clubs supporters want to be on our forum.

I’ve never seen a win at Northampton - barely seen a goal scored in fact - in ten matches there. Never seen a decent performance there either.

Cambridge too - seldom that we win there or play well there over the years.

Two footballing graveyards for OUFC.

We have a poor record at Cheltenham also.

The way we are playing we will have a few more ,when ate we going to beef up our Midfield, We know Cam is a good player but our midfield went totally missing yesterday, what has happened to Marcus ,play Mceachran in cdm play Marcus and Cam further forwards and Rodriguez up top do something different because it's not working at the minute

In 2023 we've gone from what has been described as chaos management with a lack of tactics/instructions/favouritism to a very planned/drilled regime with plenty of staff to the change to Des someone who has no staff, of his own. The players don't know if they're coming or going. Let's judge at the end of the season, suffice to say this last few weeks has put me in one of those very dark football moods

Dear oh dear, let’s not give credit where it’s due and all start blubbing like a load of petulant children, fúcking embarrassing. Dry your eyes will you, I don’t want to shatter your egos or anything but we were down to the bare bones. With 7 out we hadn’t a senior professional to add to the bench and despite us being newly promoted you got played off the park, title contenders my arśe. The problem is at the end of the day historically you are a non league club punching above your weight, it’s inevitable you will ultimately find your level, and it ain’t here. Chris Wilder knew it, and that’s why he sacked you off. If you will insist on playing games with big boys you are going to get your arses kicked. Either way if you read our forum you’ll note when we get beaten by the better side on the day we have the integrity and decency to say so and don’t start throwing our teddies about. And you wonder why we think you’re c**ts. Now off you trot to mummy for a cuddle.

From a side who get relegated from this level regularly, whereas we couldn’t get relegated last season when we tried to.

Who are the 5 that miss out from yesterday then ?
Our midfield didn’t turn up yesterday, so add a virtually non existent striker and most teams would struggle.

One player I think we missed yesterday was Bodin. I’m not a great fan of his as he’s too slow, but he does at times knit the midfield to the forward line.

Also felt Mills had a very poor game yesterday, add to that that Murphy rarely has an end product (been saying this for months), then doesn’t bode well for creating chances.

We were poor again yesterday, but didn’t feel we were as poor as when we played Reading.

Regarding the injured players, the only really miss to the squad for me is Edwards and possibly Bodin, from an offensive perspective which we’re really struggling with at the moment. We’re just not creating good chances.

That's maybe true, but assuming that you would have started Leigh and Edwards, that would have then given us the option of being able to bring the likes of Murphy/Tyler, Browne and Bodin off the bench to change the game. As a result of these injuries, all of our substitutions made us weaker.

Not a single poster on here would have changed our starting line up today following the performance against Burton, and the fact that we had no one else that was any better.

Injuries happen, and other teams have to deal with them too. However, we already had shortfalls in our squad before a ball was kicked, and that is hitting us particularly hard right now.
But I think Bennett’s looked very good. The only thing different about his game yesterday was, he didn’t overlap Murphy or Goodrham, so not sure if that was because they played differently or our fullbacks were asked to sit or he’s still not up to speed. Having said that, Stevens rarely overlaps either. Just felt when Bennett overlapped against Burton it opened up space in the midfield.

I was very disappointed with Rodrigues and McGuane yesterday.

Oooooh aggressive!!!!!!!

Sam Long
Greg Leigh
Stephan Negru
Kyle Edwards
Billy Bodin
Marcus Browne
Max Woltman

All injured

Sonny Perkins not in contention

The only fit player we have at the club that wasn't on the bench today is Ed McGinty.

Josh Murphy was taken off to protect him, and James Henry will also be nursed through the next few games.

We're on our barebones and that is the main reason for our slide. It doesn't matter what identity Des has for the team if he only has a handful of players to pick from.
Gorrin? (Not that I see him as a saviour!)

GOD may as well be added to the absentees list, sorry he is doing nowhere near enough to even make the bench, harsh words but true, He needs to be first on the list to be loaned out in January and 2 decent strikers lined up, sorry Des but not a great start - I do genuinely hope this can be turned around

Happy Christmas 🙂 Hope you find peace in yourself to resolve whatever issues made you go on a Christmas Eve rant on another club’s forum

Sorry, who ate the beef?

Is Beadle out? Moore? Brannagan? McGuane? Rodrigues? The spine of the team is completely intact. And we're not having to play anyone out of position - we have full backs at full back!

Our so-called 'injury crisis' is a weak excuse, made by the usual suspects.

We lack direction, we lack clarity, we lack drive. But we have enough quality, available, to do better than just 1 point (and only 1 goal in open play) from 4 away games (3 of which were against sides we would have routinely beaten 3 months ago).

A collective kick up the a**e needed. Not least for the lackadaisical element of our support that is seemingly happy to sleep walk into mid-table obscurity.

Out of interest what constitutes a big boy?
Possibly number of seasons in the top flight or when they were or seasons in the top two leagues or number of major trophies won or capacity of stadium or average crowd. Oh and for the record Northampton deserved their win yesterday but as they say the league table doesn’t lie we are 5 places and 10 points BETTER than you.
Happy Christmas.

Don’t expect a response, he’s gone, some strange folk in Northampton

If we continue to bring on GOD and Henry in very tight games, ultimately we will lose.

I really struggle to understand how our management cannot see that both are either past it or not up to the required standard

Smyth and McCr surely should be on before these two.

Why do we have to make changes, can players not last the 90 minutes? Seems that using your complete bench is a given. It's an option only, surely

Harris, a hold up player, ball winning, vision, strong in the air; simple he ain't. Probably 4 out of the 5 key attributes of a centre toward. Enough said.

Yesterday were we really that bad? To me given Harris poor form and subs made, it was not going to be easy against a form side. That said apart from our 2 wingers we carry a distinct lack of pace through out our whole side. To me, pace is a key ingredient for any good side

Not sure it is blind faith, but next 3 games are all winnable plus a good Jan window and returning injured players.

Who knows, be a happy forum again.
