General Manager Sack Watch

Not a sacking but Steven Schumacher all but done deal as new manager of Stoke. Not sure if that is a step up for SS and I’d be a bit annoyed if I was a Plymouth fan.
Another one prepared to risk all at Stoke. Not the most exciting of appointments to go for. I wonder what motivates someone to leave a solid club, like Plymouth, and move to Stoke?

That seems really weird. Plymouth a side generally on the up, and Stoke a stagnant mid-table championship side. Doesn't seem much of a step up.

I think it's fairly predictable, Stoke will offer more money and have expectations of the PL - they've been there quite a lot in the last few decades. Bit of a graveyard for managers recently though.

Yeah, but £100 in Stoke. He'll get a nice detached four bed for that with off street parking, a home office in the garden and an aga.
What’s he going to do with the other £99 though?

They haven’t finished above 14th since dropping down to the championship!

Exactly, lots of scope for improvement
It’s been 5 years since they got relegated from the premier league and had 5 permanent managers in that time who couldn’t get them above 14th. They might have potential but there seems to be something seriously wrong at the club if no manager out of 5 can’t improve their league finish even by 1 place in that time.

Paul Lambert, Gary Rowett and Nathan Jones were there for less than a year each.
Given time Rowett would in all likelihood have got them.to above 14th!
Then Michael O,Neil for nearly 3 years and back to Alex O'Neil just over a year.

Desperation to get to the promose land ( and worry that they could do a Sunderland and Derby) seems to mean a very high turnover of managers in the Championship

I was in Luton on Sunday. What a horrible place, windy and cold, and a miserable town that should never be on the candidates list for city status.
Thunk Steve Cooper could be looking for a new challenge. Nino set for his job
